Probably a simple computer question for some

Starfleet Engineer

I have an uncle who has a computer that he says is about 6 years old. He wants to install Adobe Flash player. In his Program Files folder he has an Adobe folder titled "Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0" and a folder "Windows NT." I'm assuming those are the versions of those things he has. He's tried to download Flash from get.adobe.com/flashplayer, I believe it was, but was unsuccessful. Does anyone know if he should be able to download and use the current flash player or if he would have to download an old version or if he has to upgrade his computer before he can dl flash? Any help is appreciated.

XP has a Windows NT folder, so if it is XP, it should be able to handle the latest version of Flash.

I have it here on my work computer (running XP).

Though sometimes, the current version of Flash doesn't "take" & Firefox (for example) is still looking at the older version.

There's tutorials out there if this is the problem.

Define "unsuccessful". What went wrong?
Also provide the Uncle's OS version including service pack (right click on My computer select Properties on the resulting context menu, look on General tab) and browser version(s) (in most browsers click About on the Help menu).

I've got Shockwave Flash Object version 10.0.45.2 working on Windows XP Home service pack 3 with Internet Explorer version 8.0.6001.18702IC and Firefox 4.0
