I’m just starting to read the Titan version (upto page 60) and I’m finding it’s more interesting than “The Root Of All Rage”.

Is it really that plausible that the Purifying Flame would simply be extinguished like a candle?
Probably not. But how long it takes for things to get back to normal after an "adventure" is something most novels or movies don't show. In fact most of the time there is no real end to a story, only a point where you as a creator decide to leave your protagonists. And in this case the base of operations of the PF was destroyed and the Renao politicians try to make peace with the Federation and the Klingons again. That's a good start for "getting back to normal". Of course there is no guarantee that there are no radicals left on the streets of the cities in the Lembatta cluster. But they have lost the means to do greater harm - and they have lost a lot of their irrational anger.

By the way: Happy New Year to everyone. :-)

Just finished the English version of "In The Heart of Chaos" and overall I enjoyed the conclusion to the story. I liked that the Prometheus was able to get out of the Lembatta Cluster for a while and do a bit of that 'exploration' Star Trek is known for.

The only thing I didn't care for too much was the resolution to Jassat's character. It was a bit too everyone lives happily ever after. His sacrifice would have had a lot of meaning not only for the crew but his people as well

But I was glad I read the novels. To be honest, had their been no stoppage of books from Pocketbooks for 2018 I may not have picked up these novels. I basically decided to jump in to hold me over and I was glad I did. It's always fascinating when an author(s) take a line from an episode, this case from DS9, and build a whole story around it. Making something out of nothing basically.

I liked the characters in the story. Spock was an interesting inclusion. He was pertinent to the plot, but didn't overwhelm the story. We also got to see Rozhenko put to good use in his role as ambassador. Kromm could be a bit annoying at times but he ended up being a 'true Klingon' in the end. I also liked the portrayal of Lwaxana Troi. She played a serious role here and for once her extravagance actually served a purpose.
