^^ I had that same problem when MeTV started running "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" a few years ago. As a first-grader, I was fascinated by submarines. So I just fell in love with Voyage. Rewatching as an educated adult just ruined the show for me. Now being educated on how submarines and other warships are supposed to operate in reality. And how professional officers should conduct themselves. I've reached the conclusion that for the majority of the episodes, Captain Crane should have been arrested, tied up, and in some cases; shot.

Having been born in 1980 and didn't start watching classic Trek until 1987, I was um, well, I liked He-Man the best before that.

It was probably Lost in Space for me. But then Trek premiered and I never looked back!

As for someone mentioning Space: 1999: I recall being very excited about that series in the months before it premiered. There was a wonderful article in The Monster Times complete with pix of the cool models and miniature sets. It looked so reminiscent of 2001 that I couldn't wait until its premiere. Here, at last, might be a worthy heir to Star Trek's mantle.

Then I saw the series. What disappointing hokum! No thought for scientific plausibility; no intelligence in the story lines; and not much in the way of character development. Without Brian Johnston's wonderful, in-camera effects work, there was nothing to recommend it. (Until season two, that is. The addition of Maya added some eye-candy to the live action segments).

I much prefer Anderson's earlier effort: UF0...

I bought both seasons of 1999 a few months ago. The entire series really is much worse than I remembered it to be, though I still love the design of the Eagle transporter ships.

Season one had the strength of managing at times to be really creepy, which I liked.

Season two had sort of a weird feeling of being produced by Filmation, if that makes any sense.

Young me was very taken with Catherine Schell, though.

I loved Wild Wild West. Then that idiot congressman killed it because it was too violent and bragged about doing it. I plan on finding out where that moron is buried so I can piss on his grave.

One of my former US Senators, the late John O. Pastore, also crusaded against television violence. I wonder what he would have thought about The Sopranos or Breaking Bad?

I got hooked on the 1950s Adventures of Superman series at the age of 6 or 7. For me, George Reeves will always be the definitive Superman. Later I became a big fan of The Twilight Zone and the original Outer Limits. And Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation shows: Supercar, Fireball XL5, and Thunderbirds (for some reason I missed Stingray on its first American syndication run).

Love that Supercar theme song. It has exactly three notes. It probably took less time to write than it does to sing it!
