Printer Help

I have a Canon Pixma MP 160 printer that is giving me problems. I try to install it and it won't properly. I cannot see it in device manager. Also, when I turn it on the system reboots. It is connected by USB.

I am using Windows XP Media Center Edition w/SP3.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Have you installed the drivers? Go to Canon's site if you don't have the disc and download and install the drivers for your particular printer.
 
Also search the canon site for a FAQ or troubleshooting page, see if the mention this problem.

If not, google "canon pixma reboot xp" or something like that.
 
Your computer couldn't have a virus could it? The reason my printer hasn't been working properly for a long while is because the computer itself had a virus. It was a Windows XP virus that really messed the system up and wouldn't let you get into certain areas of the computer like Control Panel, etc. I would also troubleshoot and if worse comes to worst, call your printer company and explain to them of the situation. Maybe they can talk some steps to you over the phone and that'll help to correct the problem?
