Primeval S4 - Who's Watching?

Danny was fucking the homonids up the evolutionary ladder.

He's standing there with his cock out, wondering if man will still be monkeys in 2 million years if he doesn't jumpstart the species by shagging everything in sight, OR if he shags too many monkeys, will the Egyptians end up with atomic weapons to fend off Rome?

What Helen did is the plot of the new (and forgettable) the day the earth stood still. The predators didn't just hunt man. They hunted everything. There would have been bugger all species left after they finished eating everything else and resorted to cannibalism or vegetarianism.

Mankind = Deadworld.

it was a crazy left turn and I still think Cutter is alive and it was his clone who died, if they just don't change the past to bring Cutter and Danny back in the same was Claudia became Jenny by moving everything on the planet one inch over and a couple seconds sideways.

So I finally watched the show for the first time..I LIKE season 1 and 2 its an enjoyable series in a silly sort of way, however it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why are the TOP people in the program paleontologists?? Why aren't there physicists and such in the group? After all the central problem is time anomolies appearing at apparent random all over England. Its odd that it took a season and a half into the show for to Cutter ACCIDENTALLY hear a radio in a mall giving off static and figures out a way to track the anomalies, when they could have just hired a physicist with specialized instruments who could have done it in season one. How is it that they frown upon Cutter's student (Temple) holding a weapon when Stephen Hart and Cutter are not experienced in military matters or weapons? How believable is it that it's Temple who actually comes up with equipment to detect and close the anomolies in later seasons? Is it just because he's a "geek" and knows about sci fi? He has no official expertise with this at all. The British government is so corrupt in this series that its only by word of mouth alone that policy is made between to competing secret organizations. Lester's ego is often the only thing seen holding the ARC together at all. Why do they never seem to carry weapons when they are discovering an anomaly..with potential carnivores on the other side! On a related note, WHY in the world do beasts come through the anomaly every single solitary time one opens???

The characters replacing the the losses in later seasons are less interesting, after all how many dinosaur attacks can you sit through before losing interest as well. I watched two season 4 episodes out of sync, and they had more action than story. Looks as if the show may be running out of steam. Has anyone heard if this is the last season?

Last Series was it's last Series under BBC. Some time after cancellation, a Joint venture came about (Ch4 and BBC or Sky and BBC?) and they decided to sign a 2 season Arc, 6 episodes one Series, 7 episodes the other Series. Conflicting information on wether this is the 6 or 7 episode Series. Renewal, I suppose will be based upon performance in this 13 episode/2 year arc.

4x07. Ethan - Did Not See That Coming. And Burton's agenda. :wtf: And the anomalies...

Overall a better ep, and a good mini-finale until "later in the year".

They didn't use the same house where "Patrick" disappeared idid they?

that's why Danny was obsessed by that house in season 3 when we met him right?

He'd been travelling from anomaly to anomaly, hence not likely to turn up at the same place.

because if they didn't there'd be no drama.

wrong, it was the last season under ITV alone.

ITV decided to can it on the basis of costs, despite the fact it's made by an independent production company in conjunction with a German broadcaster and it getting good ratings.

a new co-production deal was made between ITV, Watch (a satellite channel co-owned by the BBC), the German company and the original makers which meant that 13 episodes were made in one block as S4 and S5. ITV1 aired Season 4 first. Watch will then air S5 first (starting in April) before ITV1 air S5 later in the year.

BBC only gets involved broadcast-wise in the US where it airs on BBC America.

well the finale was interesting, but also a bit meh. I think it would have definitely helped to have seen series 3! I'm guessing Danny's missing brother was mentioned there? And Siddig's a bad guy, wiow I'm shocked!

Also a bit dissapointed that Emily returned to her own time, that seemed a bit curious given she'd been around most of the season, I kinda figured they were just going to expand the cast!

I was pretty much right about Matt.

So when/where does the next series air? They said it was returning to ITV but doesn't S5 air on Watch or somesuch first?

Rumour has it that Watch will show it this summer, then ITV this Winter.
Danny's brother was introduced the same time as Danny in episode 2 of series 3 I think.

I'm wondering if it's misdirection about Siddig's character though. I mean as far as we know, before Helen went nuts and tried to wipe out human kind she was trying to stop that future from happening and he may be trying to do that without the evil motivation she had, and Matt may be the one who brings it about through trying to stop it some how.

I have to say though, this series just hasn't held my attention much, I'll watch the next series but some how I'm not too bothered if it gets canned again.

I really hope they are being that clever with Siddig, and it'd be a neat twist if it was Matt to blame, but somehow I doubt it.

The show is ok, I like watching it but it isn't the sort of thing I'd ever want to own on DVD or anything like that but there's nothing wrong with that, it's diverting for 45 minutes on a saturday night, perfect!

Yeah, pretty much what I'd say, works as Saturday night fluff, though I do own the first 3 series, bought them when they got cheap.

I doubt it too, but you never know.

Lex was acting like paedophile beaconing children into a back of an ice cream van... Gonnor is going to be duct taped like a mummy and locked in a basement somewhere.

Beginning to wonder if there's anyone Helen hasn't screwed into being a drone.

So I don't recall anyone mentioning the egotistical clue in naming an evil machination [reddwarf:Back to reality: BLATANT!]Prospero[/reddwarf:Back to reality: BLATANT!] after a character from Shakespeare's the tempest who was an exiled duke who controlled monsters with magic... But then one of the obvious devices in the tempest is the maelstrom that delivers wayward travellers unexpectedly to the island where the shit all gets so serious....As the gametech said "BLATANT!"

Pip Burton is also from the future.

Like a poor man's (rich man's?) Henry Starling?

Been watching the third quarter episodes of the new Avengers cartoon and Kang (evil time lord) the Conqueror got me thinking about the fact that even though Helen is dead, that doesn't mean that a younger version of her might not River Songishly show up at some point a year younger, or 10 years younger if they wanted to recast.... Even though... (i don't find her pretty enough to get away with being so batshit. the hot vs. crazy scale. It's a thing from how I met your mother.)

Helen isn't dead.

Neither is "a" Cutter

the Cutter and Helen who both died were from the Claudia brown Universe, which means that the Cutter and Helen from the Jenny Lewis Universe are still wandering around looking for a portal home or the completion of some greater plan.

Kang you see, grew up to be Immortus (Complete master of 80 centuries, awarded so by elder gods of some sort. Middle management really.) Both of who faced down with the Avengers in the first dozen issues in the 60s when it was thought that they were seperate men and not a man at two points in his life line. Which gets muddled further when you introduce the notion that one of his earlier identities of Pharo Rama Tut who threw down with the fantastic four a year or so earlier diverged to be and not be kang as time split like when you get double queens in blackjack, or before that when an even younger version of kang "Iron lad" who foundered the Young Avengers half way through the naughties had his time line split too where he there after did and did not become the Pharoh and then Kang because of interference introduced by an impetuous "middleaged" kang furious that his teen self would try to deviate from the plan risking his own blood thirsty present.

So (young?) Helen can come back and mack with Bashir all gross and middle agey.

if you bothered to read my post, you'd see i said it's supposed to air in April.

that's what the Radio Times said...

Wow I was talking bout Danny earlier and then he goes and shows up? Sweet. I think he actually looked like he was trapped in the far past unlike Connor and Abby who didn't really look too bad off when they came back TBH. ;)

I was wondering why they never looked into Emily's past. In their timeline did she return back and have children? Or was she forever missing. I would have wondered about that...

To be honest I'd have been annoyed if she turned out to be Abby's great great great grandmother or something!

^I'd have been more annoyed if she turned out to be Matt's great great grandmother.

That season felt rushed, but I enjoyed it. I'm really missing Nick Cutter though, but I think he's really dead.

I was expecting to see Helen in the driver's seat of Burton's car or something...that would have been awesome. Evil!Julian Bashir is gonna take over the world.

Connor was starting to become less of an idiot. Now we're back to square one.

I never thought I'd say this, but Lester is now my favorite character. Becker's a close second. Abby would have been my third favorite if she was the same as in Season 3, but now all she does is whine about her animals. At least Connor's idiocy isn't out of character.
