Primeval S4 - Who's Watching?

This week's was very interesting. Ethan is clearly from our time...but I'm not sure Matt is!

Really nice to see Jenny, er Lucy, er Jenny again, that woman is gorgeous!

Ethan is clearly matt's Brother or uncle.

Remember in Stargate continuum, Mitchell had to go back and save the world, but the best wormhole available left him a decade to wank about with nothing to do waiting for the zero hour when he could save the world.

Matt's pappy is from the future, and to save the world he came back, but he was pretty sure he wouldn't live long enough to save the day so he made a kid. Explaining Ethan is either that he is Matts brother who disappeared or that it was Matt's grandpappy who was from the future who had two children, so it's Matt's father who was also made to make him to be ready for the final battle.

In the first episode Matt was correcting Connor on the visual senses of the dinosaur they were tracking. Connor was saying "you can't be sure, this is theoretical" but matt was sure about what he said and right about what he said because if he wasn't from the future then he certainly had the education of some one from the future.

Nah, Matt's clearly from the future, or maybe a parallel world, but I don't think he and Ethan are connected (I could be mistaken)

Matt said that he positioned himself for this job.

How long would that have taken?

10 years unless he had a "fake history" that only existed digitally.

Dudes barely thirty.

And even if the world was dying around them... Why bring an old almost dying guy with him?

For the dad not to have been dying and bullshit, that would mean that they've been here for 20 years or longer.

Then why bring a ten year old kid?

The stretch of time we're talking about tracks back to he "era" in which "Ethan" lived in that house.

In fiction there are few coincidences, almost everything is there for a reason.

Unless the writer is fucking with you.

Also, isn't there another season already on the cards?

Just not digging the Matt. That role needs a bit of krisma, after Cutter and Quinn.

Yeah but Guy, neither Matt nor his dad were sure that Ethan was even the thing they'd come to prevent, they didn't know what it was? Also you'd have thought Ethan would have taken his chance to kill Matt when he had the chance?

He changed his name. "That little boy is dead, now I am Ethan whatserfucky"

and it's been over 20 years.

It's ridiculous that that old lady recognized him.

I'm imagining that the catastrophe displaced half the, most of, just washed the planet empty of lifeforms and dumped them into other era... Most of which had the wrong sort of air.

Maybe this is Matts first time around?

They actually observed time play out once and then skooted back 20 years to actually try and fix things now that they almost knew what happened...

I don't like the actor either.

Or perhaps more accurately how he is choosing to play the part.

Or could they be from the future and came home from an away mission int he past to discover a wasteland because of something these 21st century rubes did?

Well I#m guessing all will be revealed soon!

Glad I'm not the only one finding it hard to like Matt. Hard to pin down what it is, but I guess if he isn't from our time he should feel a bit alien (pardon the pun)

Emily seems to fit in far too easily...although I guess that might make sense if she's been hopping around the timeline for a while now. It's probably hard to get phazed by anything when you've been chased by a T-Rex!

There's just something so softcore about him. He's approaching everything like a kindergarten teacher when he's supposed to have the edge of a military background helping him make decisions like a complete bastard.

Yeah he doesn't quite seem to fit. He doesn't act smart enough for a scientist, not tough enough for ex military.

I find myself thinking naughty thoughts about Jess Parker [Ruth Kearney]. She is such a cutie.

i wouldn't mind ruth, ruth, hannah and lucy in a sandwich... i'd probably die knackered, but what a way to go.

and in answer to the earlier post, YES, there is another season. they shot 4 and 5 together as part of this byzantine production deal between ITV, Watch and Pro Siebien the German broadcaster. it airs on Watch later in the year i believe.

^Not the finale. There are 7 episodes in this season, and this weekend brought episode 6 in the UK and episode 5 in the US. So I'd like to remind UK viewers to be circumspect about spoilers, please.

I hope that you do the same in threads about episodes which are aired in America and then a week or so is shown over here? If not, you should with a demand like that.

I say it's probably a year or two till the new season of Primeval airs down here.

So all conversation should halt till that happens.

When I first showed up the spoiler rules were a year, because that's how long it took the vhs tapes to circulate the world no matter how bollocks you local TV Network was.

I kept thinking that the old guy Matt keeps meeting with was a future version of himself who ended up in the past, then the conversations they had and how he acted towards Matt didn't really jive with how one might treat their past self so I started to wonder. Is it Danny? Did Danny get stuck in the past after finding out another dangling thread of Helen's (following a random anomaly), or maybe Helen was doing all she was doing because she knew of the future cataclysm and was trying to get things in place to combat it in her own twisted way?

Helen was trying to destroy humanity by going back to the beginning.

Well Helen eventually went batfuck insane, but through most of the series she seemed to have some kind of ultimate goal (and could have done that humanity wipe-out attempt at any point). She seemed to have traveled to the future gotten better tech, but also knew about the cataclysm which happened. I just assumed at some point (probably after killing Nick) she figured she was doing the planet a favor by wiping out humanity.

I was wondering if maybe Danny had somehow survived and found Helen's base or something and then more information about what she actually knew.
