I tried watching a few episodes of it, but I could never get into it. I don't really get why, but something about the dialogue and the creatures just didn't capture me as much as Doctor Who.

But still, it wasn't truly, stupendously awful. That has to go to ITV's Demons, a bad Buffy ripoff with awful dialogue, awful effects, in fact let's just call it flat out awful. Thankfully it's not coming back as Philip Glenister watched it and realised the series is the very definition of fail and left it, preferrring to be Gene Hunt and thus putting an end to it.
The concept behind the series was pretty good, the execution of it though, was very bad.

Primeval, though, I enjoy a lot. It would be nice if the UK could start to do a fair bit of sci-fi again.

Sorry as an ignorant Yank I assume all British shows are from the BBC :D Hmm so we should get a run of 13 episodes then? That's good enough.

Plus there's seasons 2 & 3 to come. Not to mention all the creatures, cause the anomolies will spring about all over the timeline. :)

Demons improved at a rate of knots over the course of the season, but not fast enough. With a 10 episode season, it might have had a few more people posting 'I almost gave up after the first few, but now I'm upset it won't be back'.
But really quality and ratings were irrelevant anyway - it's cancelled because Philip Glenister wasn't sure about doing a second run, and because ITV has no money at all any more... which, sadly, might just kill Primeval too.

edit: Btw... No-one seems to be discussing tonight's UK episode yet - which obviously belongs in the other Primeval thread so as not to spoil things for our American friends! I've just finished it on timeslip, but I guess every else has also recorded it so as to watch Doctor Who first? See you over in the season three-ish thread later then!

I *love* this show (and the last few minutes of the last ep of the first season... holy CRAP!!)

Gotta say -- Helen is one MEAN chick.
