Reminder: Primeval: New World premieres this Saturday (June 8) at 10 EST on Syfy, right after the series premiere of Sinbad.

Remember, this is a thread for US viewers. So please, no spoilers for future episodes, and don't spoil the episode before it airs on Syfy without using spoiler tags. (But feel free to grade if you've already seen it.)

When prehistoric creatures start appearing in Vancouver, it falls to a small team of civilians to handle the deadly predators, and to investigate the Anomalies in time they're coming through.

I gave it a C and I think I was being slightly generous with that rating.

Maybe I liked the original series too much and that biased me a little but I was underwhelmed by the first couple of episodes.

I recently did a rewatch marathon of the original via Netflix streaming to prepare for this. It reminded me that a lot of the original series didn't hold up all that well, particularly in season 3. So the bar is set kind of low for this.

I'm a fan of the original UK series.

Why is it that American versions of British shows are almost always rubbish? (Yes I know it's actually Canadian, but the point still stands.)

The majority of shows in any category are rubbish. So if one country does adaptations of another country's shows, a large percentage of them will be rubbish. I can't think of any UK adaptations of American shows other than Law & Order: UK, but I bet a lot of them were rubbish.

I watched the whole series when it first aired. The first two or three are not very good. But by episode 4, the series starts to go in its own direction from the UK original, and it quickly becomes excellent.

Stick with this show ... it turns out better than the U.K. version.

The English remake of Who's the boss lasted 7 seasons.

Yea, I watched all 13 episodes straight through and enjoyed it quite a bit. Sad there won't be a Second Season, but, it did tie up it's story nicely.

So even if Syfy somehow gets decent ratings, they are limited to one season, right?

Unless Syfy were willing to resurrect one or both shows and provide the funding for them. Which doesn't seem likely, given how few original scripted dramas there are on the network these days.

I'm a huge fan of the original series, so I had been really looking forward to this. I'm not as eager after seeing the reaction it's gotten on here, but most of the stuff I like gets that kind of a reaction, so I'm not too worried. I'm just a little more cautious than I would be otherwise.

Yes, but law abiding US citizens who do not travel, are only just now finding themselves with access to Primeval New World.

Cancelled or not, our friends here still have 12 episodes left unseen to view over the next 12 weeks as if these video periodicals were brand new vital virgin unsullied programming that filth like me as well as every one in Canada has not already pawed and defiled.
