In particular, I am still flabbergasted by the whole Spock-Uhura make-out session on the transporter.

the uhura spock make out session is abram's way of making the movie sell.

everyone knows action, explosions, sex makes a good movie

^^^ but the aliens made kirk do it .
He didnt want to make out with uhuala. but after watching this movie it seems kirk wanted to jump uhuala from day 1.

I just drank the Kool-Aid myself -- TWICE. Once on the giant screen at the Continental theater over in SE Denver, and again at the Colorado Center theater's IMAX screen. For someone who griped the loudest and longest about the new Trek....hmmm, fascinating.

I loved this movie. LOVED it.

And I don't love it because it is shiny. I don't love it just because it is Trek and I am completely indiscriminate, as long as it has the Trek name on it.

I love it because it is a rockin' good movie.

Completely exceeded all expectations I had for it. In every possible way and in every possible area.

You're my new best friend.

Yeah, I pretty much agree :)

Sat there in the theater just smiling through the whole closing credits sequence.

oh please we all know that uhuala and spock were both high on space hippie weed, not because of any previous relationship.

and where is nurse chapule in all of this we all know she had a thing for spock.

even sulu and uhuala is more believable, from that mirror epsoide in the "other" alternate universe.

now why didnt abram use that universe to make his movie. That would of made alot less pissed off fans.

like that episode of Enterprise with empress sato

Now a days it just seems like movies need to be flashy and shinny, with none of the heart and soul behind it. For the entire time i was watching the movie it feel like i was playing on my xbox and keep wanting to hit that reset button when vulcan blow up.

I'd hate to be a nit-picky jerk but where on an X box is a reset button? I haven't seen one of those since what? Nintendo 64? Playstation 1? I think its funny you are taking the stance of a hardcore fan who isn't buying into this new flashy Star Trek movie and you can't spell the name of one of the main characters...

Hurm... You do know her name is "Chapel", right?

As long as Star Trek exists, the characters that Gene Roddenberry created will live on. Not even in a hundred years from now will we, our children, nor our grandchildren will ever forget the name…Star Trek.
Your post really put a smile on my face. :) This last part really sums it up. After this movie, I dug up all my old Trek dvds and videos. I haven't felt this excited about the franchise for a really long time. Far from making me forget the old series, it has revived my interest in them.

I never claimed to be a hardcore fan with ears. I just watched all the tv series and movies, and read some of the books. spelling was never one of my strong suits, and i couldnt careless about what jeffery tube connected to what part of the enterprise.

This movies bugs me because abrams didnt respect the old fans enough to not throw the entire trek universe out the window. He could of easily made minor adjustments in the script to satisfied everyone.

It's a multiverse and has been since "Mirror, Mirror".

But how can you honestly say that? The movie chalk FULL of references to previous Trek incarnations. Hell they even provided a little cop-out for canon nazis to "la-la-la" it out. Look, you may not like the take the new producers have but don't criticize them for ignoring the fans. They've gone out of their way to ensure that they respected old canon and kept the old universe "alive".

Not a lot of fans are pissed off actually, I'd really say more around 1 percent, or even less, really. The same could be said of the negative responses to ENT, VOY, Early DS9 - the displeased have always been the minority. Vocal? Yes. Numerous? By no means.

Abrams has no worries at this point with regards to the fanbase.

Who the fuck are uhuala and chapule? If you're going to piss and moan about Abrams selling out, then the least you can do is know your characters.

Chapel did appear in the film, Bones tells her to give him a cortisone hypo for Kirk when he's having that allergic reaction to the vaccine.

how is the old universe is still alive when none of is gonna happen, because this movie changed everything. How is the battle between kirk and spock on vulcan going to happen because vulcan got blow up?

and that whole device that its an alternate universe just seems like a cop out to me. like it just a dream plot line. And what urks me is that now the main universe is gonna be in this newly created one, and the old verse will never come back. Yeah sure they did throw a couple of bones to the fans, but those are not enough consistering that they just told all the old fans that all the time you spent watching the series doesnt matter anymore.

All the other trek incarnations all tryed to fit into the trek verse, and then comes abrams with his audiacity to blow everything up.
