I want Idris Elba so I never ever have to hear someone suggest him ever again. Hopefully he'll be typecast as well and never gets a prominent role in anything ever again.
I already have one crush on the show. Don't make me have two!Emma Watson! (of course not, but I'd love to see how people would react)![]()
You know, it's been awhile since we had someone with the last name of Baker in the role of the Doctor. Are there any 30-ish male actors out there right now from a Baker family?
Helen Bottom Carter
Sounds like she's posting with a stuffy nose.Helen Bottom Carter
never seen Helena Bonham Carter spelled that way before
We could really be doing with an Irish Doctor this time round.
About the only thing I'd say is a given, assuming that Steven Moffat is staying, is that he'll start with the aim of an older - 40 to 50 - Doctor, but as happened last time, that could go out of the window if someone else walks in and gives a killer audition.
Dexter Fletcher is 47.
Not that I needed convincing (obviously) but damn that makes me want Alexander Siddig in the role more than ever. More so than Eddie Izzard!Alexander Siddig. I think he’d be fantastic, he manages to be quintessentially English whilst also embracing his heritage. At 47 he might be a shade too old, but (despite what Garak said) he still retains his boyish charm, and it would be nice to see a suave Doctor again, certainly he’d be very different from 9, 10 and 11, which is ideally what we need. He’s a good enough actor to play the light and dark of the character, and I could see him being both playful and manipulative, plus I think it’d be funny if the Doctor had a beard rather than the Master this time![]()
He'd be great! But he has a burgeoning film career, so....Bob and I just came up with Mark Strong. That is all.
I'm hoping for anything other than another white Englishman as the Doctor. I'd be thrilled if we had a Scots Doctor, or a Welsh or Irish Doctor, or a black Doctor, or South Asian Doctor.

Not sure what to make of this Tweet. Not sure why people working for Russell Howard's Good News would have seen the new Doctor and, if they did, why they would be tweeting about it. Could be legit, could be an attempt to drum up some free publicity.
Given the format of the show I’m guessing it’s just that Russ will do a sketch where the Doctor regenerates into someone/thing comedic like a Dalek.
