"Predators" will be kicking ass

I thought his movie Vacancy was pretty well done. It was just a small little thriller, but he got the action and suspense elements down really good. And those are two things a Predator movie definitely needs to have.
 
I just love his first name: Nimrod. I'd love to be a grip or PA on set and yell out after a bad take, "Great job, Nimrod!"

Who the hell likes ambiguous characters that are basically all cardboard cutouts of one another in an action movie? I want to see shit blow up, not spend 35 minutes exploring the meaning of life with some prison convict to discover how he's "not the man you thought he was" before he puts a bullet in an alien's face.

Much fiction, even very good fiction, contains character archetypes because they're easily identifiable to the viewer and allows a plot driven movie or novel to move forward without getting hung up on character exposition. Just because something isn't a character piece doesn't make it shit.
 
Micheal Jai White will kick ass in this film, and expecially as the main character to fight off the Predators. I have my money on Micheal Jai White. This movie will make him a SUPER STAR, because he is goingto save the Predator franchise with his action skills as a action star. All his movies, he is unstoppable like Arnold Schwarzenneger movies as an action star. Dajavu anyone. If they don't cast him as the main character for this movie, this movie is goingto suck like AVP and AVP Requiem with noone to root for like the character DUTCH in the movie Predator. Micheal Jai White is a real life super hero if he wants to be, he is skilled in real life self defense karate or what ever he studies, and he's also skilled in weapons. A REAL bad ass MO-FO if you ask me. So directors if you're listening, hire Micheal Jai White as the main character, and have him in the sequel after the movie Predators, because it will be succesful with him as the man Character. Micheal has been underlook as a super star, why I don't know. Maybe it's jealousy or bad timing, but if you let this man not be recognized then I hope all your movies bring you low budget money to think you know it all. He will make excellent movies as a action star or a hero.

I am rooting for MJW as well. Guy has the looks and the charisma to be a great action star.

I imagine it's going to be a lot like Planet Terror based solely upon the archetypes listed for the characters. Totally over the top but somehow cool, and definitely not meant to be believable or hard science fiction. God bless strippers with machine gun legs and psychopathic Hispanic super-killers with hearts of gold.

Yeah, as mentioned above, a number of sites are now reporting that Adrien Brody will be playing the lead role in the film, a mercenary named Royce. Apparently, the filmmakers are still in negotiations to get Topher Grace for the role of Edwin, the "small, unassuming" man, an accountant who also happens to be a serial killer. Also cast is Alice Braga from I Am Legend.

The casting of the Oscar-winning Brody is certainly... interesting news. I think my curiosity has been slightly increased.

Agreed. It's nice to see them going for such interesting and unexpected actors for this. Instead of the standard bunch of generic no-name types we USUALLY see in these movies.

I dunno, when I think of Adrien Brody in Big Hollywood Action Movie, King Kong immediately comes to mind. Brody's respectable acting chops were simply not enough to save Peter Jackson's hopelessly bloated and morally confused epic.

I'm sort of cautious about this project at best, because I've never been a particularly big fan of Predator (and the less said about the retcon to relate it to Alien, a film I much love, the better), and Roudrigez has what one could charitably describe as an uneven resume.

On the other hand, I'll concede it has the potential to be a pretty fun action movie. Time will tell, eh?
