"Predators" will be kicking ass

..and fucking taking names!

IO9 is reporting some spoilers to the movie and some characters that are going to be seen:

  • Cuchillo A Mexican enforcer from the drug cartel, who is Danny Trejo's character.
  • A Russian named Nikolai with a four barrel gas powered rotary machine gun....close to The Body's weapon.
  • The token female role goes to Isabelle, a "tough as nails" lady who can speak French and carries a sniper rifle.
  • A possible skin head convict, who is armed only with a prison made knife, is also in the group.
  • Plus a Japanese enforcer who appears to be carrying a samurai sword,
  • a member of the Sierra Leone death squad,
  • and a small "unassuming" man named Edwin who was on the FBI's most wanted list.

Assuming Rodriguez shows his usual talent along with Nimrod Antal at the helm, this movie is gonna freaking rock!! This movie might finally live up to the name of the first Predator. This ain't going to be another PG-13 lamefest but a bloodily disgusting hard-R! Hell, I'd be happy if it was NC-17. Fans have waited too long for a proper sequel to one of the greatest sci-fi actioners of all time. 2010 will be the year!
 
Hmmm good to hear it's not a complete copy of the original. Plot sounds somewhat interesting for an action flick.
 
Yeah and the most interesting part:

It's already been revealed that it'll take place on the Predator Homeworld.

As regards casting, just for fun, I'm going to throw out the following names:

Nikolai: Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises mode.

Isabelle: Monica Bellucci (I know she's Italian, but it says she can speak French, not that she is French). I'd have suggested Milla Jojovich, but we don't want her no-talent husband coming anywhere near the set, after AVP.

Skin-head convict - Vin Diesel or Jason Statham

Japanese Enforcer: Jet Li (Okay, he's Chinese but he kicks ass). Or is Ken Wanatabe too old?

Member of Sierra Leone death squad - the guy who played Mr Eko on Lost

Edwin - Jackie Earle Haley or Robert Knapper
 
Wasn't excited before, but the plot description actually makes it sound pretty damn cool.

I love the idea of a bunch of badasses being kidnapped off Earth and dropped into some alien jungle, and having to fight not only Predators but a bunch of prehistoric creatures to boot.

Here's hoping that A) this gets a good enough budget to realize all this, and B) Fox doesn't interfere and try to soften everything up at the last minute.
 
Not sure about the director, I read that Fox was just going to let 'em do his thing, lack of oversight makes me nervous.
