Preacher vs. True Blood

If Preacher had become a HBO series, it would have better or worst than True Blood? Would it have more of an audience?

Another "what if?" post from JW? Oh, here we go. Obviously, Preacher would have been worse (it is not possible to have a "worst" if there are only two choices), because the Charlaine Harris books are the source material for True Blood. And Charlaine is made of 100% pure awesome.

JW loves his hypothetical threads huh?
I'm not too familiar with Preacher, but from I've read it would tote along the same lines of a dark premise similar toTrue Blood

Obviously it would be dark. On top of twisted, funny, thrilling, emotional, and romantic. And HBO would be the perfect place for a show like that. Either HBO or Showtime or FX.

I could just imagine the teams of fans being divided and pitted aganist each other over who should Tulip end up with. Team Jesse vs. Team Cassidy.

I found season 2 of True Blood to be god awful, and the first season to be meerly an entertaining but flawed guilty pleasure, so I'll go out and say that I suspect Preacher would have been quite a bit better, having only read a small fraction of it.

Of coure, Game of Thrones is gonna blow both out of the water come next spring.

I never thought the Preacher series would have been a good idea. Some stories simply work better in one medium than another, and I just don't see how a live action tv show of Preacher could improve on the comic in any way.

The protests, letter writing campaigns and vitriol would be entertaining, though.
