This is fascinating. Though it's called "The Transporter", the first thing I thought of after holograms is the Ktarian game from TNG's "The Game" (regarding how people could be enslaved by it.)

More than that, this is clearly the seed of the concept behind "The Cage," where the Talosians stagnated because they became too addicted to illusion. This is technology rather than telepathy, but the idea is the same.

The site is incorrect, however, to say this was Roddenberry's first science fiction pitch. The earliest known one was "The Secret Defence of 117," aka "The Secret Defense of 117" or "The Secret Weapon of 117," which wasn't filmed until 1956 but was written in 1953: https://www.tvobscurities.com/2018/06/gene-roddenberrys-secret-defence-117-script/
