Yeah, both better facilities *and* more safety for the astronaut to convalesce. Upon seeing the birds, the need to keep the astronaut in the TARDIS became abundantly clear. Outside those logical reasons, why lug the sick astronaut around when it wasn't needed?
About the guy who walked away towards the beach, the Doctor and Ryan should've really explained the dangers to him more! At least partially their fall for letting him wander off without a warning.
But, I agree, overall it was an enjoyable episode. It had a cool, globe trotting, mystery vibe going on. Felt different than most DW episodes in a good way.
Nah, once they were in the TARDIS, they had the astronaut hooked up in no time, a sample treatment made, and the TARDIS automatically made more when it worked.
Did she not make the sample cure in the beach hut, she was last out because she had to grab it.
Ah, perhaps. I might've missed that. Thought it was made in the TARDIS. At any rate, he was hooked up in the TARDIS and it created more on the spot after it detected the guy was recovered. Pretty good tech!

I'd say the only way is up but I've seen the overnights...
I like to think the Doctor had already spotted how well-equipped Suki's lab was and used that to root out her motivation, instead of just relying on the kit in the TARDIS which is surely more advanced.
However... are we sure the TARDIS kit IS more advanced? It's likely better, but the Time Lords meant TARDISes to observe, not interfere... most of the medical kit aboard would be calibrated for Gallifreyans. The Doctor might have cobbled together some bits and bobs for other species along the way, but a native lab is probably still better.

I'm going with an 8. Better than the average episode from last season. The split crew worked better here than normal.
Sure, a let down of sorts from last week, but how could it not be? Captain Jack & The Two Doctors is a hard act to follow.

I don't know, I would have wanted to see Tardis' sick bay. It is kinda weird how it is supposed to have all these other rooms, but they almost never show any of them.
Given that past attempts to show the extra rooms in the TARDIS haven't been the greatest probably this is for the best
Mixed feelings on this one. Decently chilling and thrilling, with all the companions and the Doctor getting some solid material, and certainly a better effort at an environmental episode than Orphan 55, but...
Personally, body horror, which this verged on with the crystalline growths, is a serious no-no for me, so that was quite off-putting. Also, as others have noted, one of the guest actors was a little flat, a couple of characters were quickly forgotten - man the birds killed on the beach, the vlogger getting over the loss of her friend with impressive speed - and the Earth fixation this series is starting to wear just a little thin.
Some familiar elements - gas masks, space suits, the unmasked alien was reminiscent of old Toothface - and another wrecked civilisation with hardly any survivors. As recurrent themes go, this one's not too subtle, and it does give me some concern as to how it'll culminate.

It wasn't as strong as the previous episode, but it was a good standalone. Better than some of the other standalone this series.
The Third Doctor during Exile would have done most of the DIY inside the TARDIS.
So the TARDIS Lab is 1980s/70s.
Timelords don't need "Labs" to sus out contagions.
They just skip forward in time, see how every one died, then skip back and make sure that patient zero is disposed of.
Actually, knowing Time Lords, they don't bother about disease anyway. Their own regenerative powers probably keep them immune to virtually anything and we know from Torchwood that prolonged TARDIS travel even boosts the human immune system to silly levels.

Pretty much this.
It wasn't as heavy handed as Orphan 55 but on the other hand it wasn't a total stinker. Some decent story here and nice makeup effects. I actually didn't mind this one at all overall. I liked how the story was globe trotting and how everyone was in different places helping solve the mystery.

Next week looks right proper.
You can see it in the classic story, "Invasion of Time"! Alas it doesn't look so advanced. However, you have to think the Time Lords who can travel space and time at will, would have the best equipped labs possible.
I'm sure they used the beach lab because they didn't have a TARDIS set for it. Easier to create the look of a human lab from scratch. Plus, the drama of going from and back to the TARDIS with a sick astronaut. Will they make it?!
I'm one of the five people on the planet who loves The Invasion of Time and its TARDIS corridors. So what if looks like a factory and what not? It's a very large interior.
Besides we got more corridors in "The Doctor's Wife" and "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS," albeit more static and basic.

Yeah, but how many of those have been jettisoned or deleted over the years?
The invasion of time was a cool story I like it too. I didn't really mind the corridors and stuff. "Journey To The Centre Of The Tardis" almost gave us a nice look at the engines only they were all exploded like a cutaway diagram. I'd love for them to do that again but properly and show us the actual engines one day.
