Practically Perfect Albums (or CDs)

Another one:

My god, yes!:techman:

Joel Plaskett, Soundtrack for the Night. You know how your seventeen year old self seems really, really stupid to you now? This album does a brilliant job of showing you why you took yourself so seriously back then.

I missed this thread earlier, somehow (it's not in TV & Media, maybe).

I noticed that threads about music are split between here (including this one and "What Song Are You Listening to Right Now") and TV & Media, which is odd.

Anyway, I don't think any album is perfect, but these are the closest I've found:

Radiohead - OK Computer (1997)
The Who - Who's Next (1971)
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (1991)
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited (1965)
Radiohead - The Bends (1995)
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975)
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia (2002)
The Replacements - Let It Be (1984)
Pearl Jam - Ten (1991)

It's amazing how easy it is to forget what should be unforgettable!

Janis Joplin, Pearl.

Janis Joplin, Pearl.

You know, I thought about adding this one, but then I saw that someone posted one of the Big Brother and the Holding Company Albums - I think it was Cheap Thrills...which I prefer slightly more since "Piece of My Heart" is my favorite of her songs and it is on that album, as is "Ball and Chain" and "Summertime", two other awesome songs.

I also tend to lean toward Cheap Thrills because Janis Joplin probably had more control over that end product since...well, she was alive at the time it was released, whereas Pearl was released after her death.

Still Pearl is a great record - I'll give you that. :)

Resurrection time.

There's a thread about the new Iron Maiden video going on, which got me to copying all my Maiden cd's as well as the last 2 Bruce Dickinson albums I have.

Those 2 Dickinson albums, Accident Of Birth & Chemical Wedding could just be perfect albums. Completely listenable in their entirety. Better than about half the actual Maiden albums, which are all great (outside of the 2 later ones without Bruce).

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd.
Down on the Upside - Soundgarden.
Endtroducing...
- DJ Shadow.
Metaphorical Music
- Nujabes.
Powerslave - Iron Maiden.

All worthy of the practically perfect title, imo.
