The motherboard & CPU are in & working. The new board is only slightly different than the other one model-wise (new-P5Q Deluxe/old-P5Q-E), so I was able to boot up without too much trouble.
I thought I was having sound issues, but forgot that the Logitech surround system resets itself to zero when unplugged from the computer.
Any minor issues are inconsequential, since I'll be reformatting & installing Windows7 this weekend.
Got a good thermal connection, CPU cores are running 32°C, which is where it was with the old CPU under normal conditions.
If I have the time this weekend, maybe I'll try the old CPU (with heatsync) & motherboard and see if they're usable.
