Yes, but what's the Venn diagram of people who watch Trek versus people who watch NCIS? I doubt it's some super secret message for the masses. Rather, as someone upthread posted, the writer probably threw it in for fun.

Reminds of a character on a soap opera my wife watched. She's a minor character who's named Deanna. For some reason they had to mention her last name, which had never been said in all the years she's been on the show and it was "Sirtis". Yeah, someone's a Trek fan.

At this point, NCIS has eclipsed JAG so much that I often forget NCIS originally started as a JAG spin-off.

IIRC, Hawaii 5-0 did a crossover episode with NCIS Los Angeles, therefore all those shows and all the NCISs are in the same universe.

I caught the scene because my folks had been watching NCIS when ‪‪I walked through the room. They aren’t Trekkies/Trekkers, but they’ve never me a hard time for my nerdy pursuits. With two kids who have worked in comics they would’ve been driven insane by now if it were confounding to them.

My mom would’ve gotten started on Discovery when they were airing the first season on CBS during the initial lockdown, but my dad is far less likely to watch any scifi thing. He’d probably watch a movie, but he’s not going to get into a series.
