Post Typhon-Pact

It might be far too early to discuss this but as I wait for the Typhon books to arrive I'm wondering what the plans are for after those.

Is it the intention that after those 4 books the series split back up and we get seperate TNG, Titan, etc books? Or are they waiting to see how the Typhon books are received before any decision is made?

They already are separate. This is not a full-on "all the crews working together" crossover like Destiny. It's probably closer to something like Gateways. It's four separate books about different groups of people dealing with different situations involving different branches of the Typhon Pact.

Oh sounds like I misunderstood the cross over. Thanks Chris.

Christopher pretty much explained it. Typhon Pact isn't a "crossover," but actually four standalone stories books linked by the theme of dealing -- to varying degrees - with the Pact's different members.

It's definitely still shared-universe, though, with Bashir showing up in the Aventine book, Spock showing up in the DS9 book, and Shar showing up in the TNG book.

And the details about Indistinguishable From Magic that we've gotten so far definitely continue that approach. Which is awesome, in my opinion :)

Well, if I hadn't included Shar in a book about Andor, someone else would've called me out for being lazy, unimaginative, and/or disrespectful of what's come before. Since I've included him, I'm just being fanwanky and an enabler of the small-universe syndrome. :D

And then there's my Department of Temporal Investigations novel, which is coming out after Typhon Pact but takes place before it. I guess that would also fall under "shared-universe" as Thrawn is using the term.

Agreed! I love the crossover between the series. I love Kirsten's Voyager where it is in the DQ, but I wouldn't mind for that crew to be apart of the various AQ stuff as well. I'm all for more and more crossovers :techman:

Oh, no, I don't at all disapprove. I think it's awesome. I'm just saying that it's not quite as isolated as you made it sound. The stories stand alone from each other, but not from the other series' continuity.

So DTI is taking place in 2380? Earlier? Later?

Out of curiosity, when does it take place?

And, if you're allowed/want to share, are you using or referring to the Dulmer material in Needs Of The Many at all?

I meant "standalone" in the sense that the books aren't interconnected, or each required to read the other(s). Despite the inclusion of characters from different series, the set of books is being presented in a vein similar to the Section 31 miniseries.

Yes. (You kinda walked right into that one...)

Provisionally, tentatively, I'm putting it in the gap between Destiny and TP. Though of course it isn't limited entirely to that timeframe.

And, if you're allowed/want to share, are you using or referring to the Dulmer material in Needs Of The Many at all?

Nope. Haven't read it, and what I've heard about it isn't compatible with what I'm doing.

You might want to check it out anyway. It presents a fairly nifty way to reconcile the ST:O timeline with the TrekLit timeline that includes Destiny; the kind of thing that's right up your alley. It's the "Worlds In Collision" section, a little past halfway through.

Will your book include, by any chance, a 2380 faction trying to undo the borg invasion by travelling back in time and the DTI mercilessly chasing them in order to preserve the timeline:evil:?

^No. For one thing, the Borg invasion was in 2381.

Well, you did say your book takes place "between Destiny (the borg invasion) and TP" - 2381, not 2380.

If you want to touch upon the temporal cold war, you will have to go with the mutable time line established in 'Enterprise' and not the new parallel timelines established in 'Star Trek 2009'.
