Interesting, because lockdown happened like a week or 2 after they finished filming, they couldn't do any pick-ups. So they had actors with motion capture equipment do recordings, then using 3D scanned versions of the actors, apply a 3D model to the scene.
We've (well some of us anyways) known that CBS has had 3D scanned versions of the actors for a while, that's what STO uses to help make their game models of the DSC actors. I assume the scans were also used for promo art and toys.
