Possibly, my best birthday present in a long time

My 19 yr old daughter watched the new Trek movie last week... and it made her a Trekkie!!!!

She has just consumed the Trek films from TMP to Generations, and blames Picard for getting Kirk killed.
Tonight she's diving into a collection of fan favorite Klingon episodes that span every series, and then she plans on diving into the TAS. She's also searching her mom's house for every Trek book she can get her hands on.

She saw part of Wrath of Khan when she was young and the ear-bug scared her so that she wanted nothing more to do with Trek ever again.
I'm so happy!!

But, but, but.... people on the internet tell me that the last film sucked, that no-one who likes it is a true Trekkie and that it didn't make a single Trekkie out of any of the unwashed, uneducated, non-fans who saw it! Therefore, you must be lying!!

Thank you, thank you.

Why is she so keen to watch TAS?
Why? Bwahahahaha!! Because she wants it all now! She can't get enough! We're having lunch today, so I'll be able to tell you more then, but right now, she's all about Kirk.

And TAS used some scripts that were planned for season 4. (Now I have to get her watching Phase II!)

Mazeltov! Since childhood, my brother teased me for being a "Trek Nut". He saw Star Trek 2009 and is now a fan. Unfortunately, the only series he likes is ENT. Who knew?

Okay, post lunch report:
Catheryn's seen: ST Movies 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Generations & ST09, ENT (pilot) Broken Bow, TOS Errand of Mercy & Trouble with Tribbles.
She's read the Medical Ref Manual & the FJ Tech Manual.

She loved TwT, "I felt so bad for Kirk, he was having such a bad day." Cat seems to really dislike TNG so far. "I'm angsty. I'm more angsty. I'm android angsty. I'm bald!" She had very little good to say about them. She said that the TOS crew seemed to be a list of people at the top of their game in their jobs, but the TNG crew seems to be "master of nothing", except whining. "If Picard had done what Kirk ordered him to do, rather than following him around like a puppy, Picard could have stopped Soran. I mean really? Malcom McDowell? He weighs what? 80lbs? One punch would have laid him out! And Kirk gets taken out by falling debris? What crap."

She's going to watch TAS mostly because they have it, but so far she's really into TOS, and sees the new movies as just an adaption of TOS. She liked the new bridge, and agrees the lens flares were excessive. Cat's really looking forward to the next movie and novels in the JJverse.

She needs to watch "Chain of Command" [TNG] both parts. She will love the shake-up Captain Jellico gives the crew!:techman:

It is always a good thing to help introduce the next generation to Trek in whatever form. I did something similiar ten years ago or more with a childhood friend and his brother. I introduced them to the movies and they went ape over them too, let me tell you.

Congrats! I look forward to the day when my son joins the ranks. Good indicators so far. He gets really quiet and focused whenever I have Trek on (he's only 11 months) and normally he does not even look at a screen when anything else is playing.

My 7 year old son is also quickly devouring the Trek movies. He watched TWoK when I re-watched it a few weeks ago and asked to see TSfS following it. I woke up this morning to see he was watching the latest movie on Netflix.

I want to wait until the fall and then watch TNG with him, since it premiered when I was in third grade, as he will be.
