Possible Spoilers - Need some help with a lost novel plot line...

Okay. If anyone would be so kind as to remind me of the novel in which an Andorian Character (I believe a female-type) is captured and split-cloned using Transporter Tech.

I'm having the darnedest time remembering this storyline and if and where it was ever resolved or pointed to again.

I feel like I may have missed some info.

Thanks.

Correct. I assume it will be followed up on in The Fall books A Ceremony of Losses and/or The Poisoned Chalice, but since I haven't read them yet that's only a guess.

.

I've just finished rereading Fallen Skies and had the sane question. I don't remember this ever being brought up again. I've read everything since then. Has this been dropped or did I miss something.

Sorry for dredging up an old thread, but Internet searching and forum searching have lead me nowhere.

It seems to be in limbo at the moment - It's something that was introduced in a Titan novel, presumably with the thought that that would be where this thread would be picked up. Then, before a new Titan novel is written, The Fall comes out and two or three in-universe years pass between Fallen Gods and The Fall, which resolved the Andorian fertility crisis and rendered the matter of trying to clone Andorians to increase the population moot with no mention of this plot, but there's enough missing time between the two where this plot line could easily be resolved, were a future novel to go back and fill in the gaps between the two.

Thanks. I figured I hadn't missed it being mentioned again, glad to have it confirmed.

With everything else going on in-universe and the solution to the reproduction crisis at hand, I doubt they ever go back to it. Maybe a mention as to how the ship was destroyed leaving the pulsar before getting back to Federation space because of energy issues from the transporter or something.

It's such a shame it hasn't yet come up again - the godmode abilities of transporters* is something I'd love to see addressed. C'mon writers, rock the boat!

*Off the top of my head: Beaming anywhere, beaming to alternate realities, beaming back in time, de-ageing, re-ageing, curing all illness, human xerox, human xerox where one is good and the other evil, re-bigulating miniaturized crew members, merging copies or even two different people into a single entity (and separating them months later), turning people into a couple of varieties of ghostly things... and that's just from canon.

At first, I thought you were asking about Andorian biologist, Doctor Shona Exar's twin sons from a short story, Ni Var by Claire Gabriel, in Star Trek: The New Voyages 1; edited by Marshak and Culbreath, Bantam, 1976.

Her boys' physiologies reflected their parents' mixed heritage; Shona's husband, Albar, was a red-skinned Fornaxian. The boys had purple skin, black hair and Andorian antennae, but they were complete opposites in personality. It was revealed in the story that the scientists had produced a single hybrid child by natural means. Internal incompatibilities made it necessary to "twin" him with experimental 23rd century technology.
