Possible spoiler about Trek XI and Enterprise series

I just got my Star Trek magazine, and I noticed the new action figures for the new movie. What got my interest was
the phasers. Is it me or do they look like something between Enterprises' phase pistol and the TOS phaser, or am I just reading too much into it?
Thanks!

Huh, what's the spoiler here? That they'll have phasers in the new movie?

And no, I don't think they look anything like the phase pistols from Enterprise. They bear a great resemblence to the phasers from TOS though.

I just thought that by saying that......,

they had some resemblence to
Enter prise
that might qualify as a spoiler. I guess I was reading too much into though.

I don't really think there are many similarities.

Well, I'll be the one to agree with the OP. This was featured in a Trek news item a week ago or so, and it was the first thing that sprang to my mind. Yes, it does look like the step between a phase pistol and TOS phaser to me.

Sadly not. The phaser is much more a synthesis of various Original Series film versions. It's a pity. Much about the look of the NX inside and out, felt like a retrograde step from TOS. Mechanical and clunky precursors to future tech that belied their simplistic look. From the blinking coloured lights on the flat panel monitors, to the border patterns around the transporter and grilled partitions in sickbay. The science station scope and the whirling circular pattern based on a trick of the eye. Then the use of a more throne-like chair for Archer in Season Four and the splashes of colour to various doors. Now both it and the future look it nodded towards, have been jettisoned in favor of impossibly clean white surfaces and safety glass divides.
