Spoilers Possible origin of the Q Continuum?

I don't think Q is doing this for evil purposes. He's willing to make a point that causes death though e.g. the Enterprise crew members who died in 'Q Who', and what happened to Elnor in 'Assimilation'. John de Lancie called him a 'catalyst' this season.

A couple other wrinkles: in DS9's 'Q-Less' he hinted at what was wrong but didn't interfere. He has acted as tempter/guide when ordered by the Continuum e.g, 'Hide and Q', 'True Q', 'All Good Things', 'Death Wish' and 'The Q and the Grey'. But he also goes rogue, as in 'Qpid', 'Tapestry', 'Q2', and seemingly, in Picard, season 2.

And there are sometimes consequences for his actions re: 'Deja Q' and, apparently, 'Watcher'.

He summed himself up perfectly when Adam Soong asked him who is was in 'Fly Me to the Moon':

"I am the evolution of stardust. I am the gentle flutter of a butterfly. I am death, destroyer of worlds."

And remember those ‘cloud aliens’(Calamarain??)that he shrunk to fit into the palm of his hand?I don’t think he had good intentions toward them.

The only reason that anyone would want to shrink anyone in to the palms of their hands would be to squash them. Unless anyone can think of a better reason?

I only use the term *confederation timeline* for the lack of better words, so i have it easier to explain my thoughts. Think the events creating the confederation may possibly have caused the Q Continuum to exist. It's continuing existence may be at stake, if Picard and his friends change things back...

Think it's possible that the Q are around before their creation because they ascended and entered the multiverse. That might have kept them alive (at least till now).

Q, even though possibly fascinated by and loving Prime Picard and this universe, may be forced to destroy it to keep the continuum alive.

That's why he may have told Adam Soong in the new episode:

""I am the evolution of stardust. I am the gentle flutter of a butterfly. I am death, destroyer of worlds."

Simply said, it's wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff ;)

If the Q were former humans from the Confederation timeline, why all of a sudden they're messing with the timeline now? Why not at the start of Encounter at Farpoint?

Maybe everything Q did, happened according to a plan and as i said before it's interesting that the first scenario Q used in EaF were the tribunals happening during the post atomic horror. One of the first things that isn't part of the chain of events with the Confederation being around.

And isn't it interesting in retrospect that Q talks about humanity and treats Picard in the TNG pilot almost as if they were the ones from the Confederation ;)

For not being able to keep their promise to forsake their power: it's not revealed what they did or were doing.

Actually it's the opposite: Amanda's parents gave up their Q identities and lived as humans, even having a child together. That's why they were executed by the Continuum. Because they wouldn't be Q.

Think it may simply be a matter of life and death for the Q Continuum. Without the Confederation, they might cease to exist.

Interacting with the Prime timeline, might have been another try before to anchor themselves to it and save the Continuum...

Would make some sense. In the Confederation timline, Janeway and her crew never helped save the Q Continuum from their war. And maybe Quinn was never imprisoned and they had a war sooner, destroying most of them? Q de Lancie and Ms. Q also never had Junior.

The Q Continuum might be outside of normal space and time, but they allowed humanity to influence their evolution.
