Poor cat

Bob The Skutter

Complete Arse Cleft
In Memoriam
Mojo, my cat, came home earlier today seeming very unlike himself, uninterested in food, and quiet. Slight limp, crying out in pain when I picked him up, and black streaks on his fur.

I took him to the vets and the vet said he thinks it seems like he's "had an encounter with something on the road" not sure whether he's been hit by a bike or clipped by a car, they've kept him in for tests and observation, and said to call tomorrow morning.

Im sorry to hear about your cat:borg:
But im sure he will be just fine:)
All the best, to both of you:bolian:

Wow, Bob, sorry to hear that. :( It sounds like he should be okay, though; my cat was once hit by a car very badly and the Vet was able to save him (although I had to "insist" strongly-- they wanted to just let him die because he was so badly hurt).

Do you have any details on his injuries? Does he have any broken bones? My cat had to have his jaw wired shut for several weeks and could only eat liquid food.

No details. There was no obvious injuries. He did seem in pain in various areas on his rear left leg, and on his belly while the vet was examining him, his heart rate was high, and his breathing seemed rapid and shallow. Also seemed like he's wet himself when he came in.
The vet said they're likely to anaesthetise him and take some x-rays tonight.

Your story sounds similar to familiar situation that my cat has been putting through. It's my fault that I let my cat going out playing with his new grandfamily, but none of them want to share that bond with him. Then, one day, my cat wander down on the road to find something new to him. That's where I was on the computer watching him to making sure that he wouldn't go that far. It's my responsible to ensure that nothing that will get him killed. Apparently, his curiosity nearly got him killed in two months ago.

I got distracted for a moment and then turned around and finding out that the red car was intentionally swerved to overran my beloved cat. As a result of that event, my cat suffered a serious damage to his mouth and the chin looking really bad. He was so scared. Next morning, I bought his favorite vitamin pills to making its sounds to calling him out, when he did that, he ran right back to jumping into my arms. It pains me to seeing him suffering like this. My grandmother sounds so heartless when it comes to this situation occurs, she told me herself that most cats heals very quickly. She tried her best to convinces me that, as result of that, we got in big fighting about taking him to vet to taking care to ensure that his health is ok.

Glad to report that my cat is doing all right. His mouth is completely healed up nicely. His memories has floored him pretty heavily, it's reminded him of the situation where the red car overran him, every time he heard the sounds of cars coming on around, he ran back to my room, or ran back to hide behind the electric wheelchair on the porch. It upsets him so violently. I'll take the blame for not taking the responsible to making sure that nothing bad happens to him. Moreover, I blame my grandmother for letting him going outside, because he cried too much.

Now it's my job to making sure that he lives longer to past age of 20. What can I do to making sure that his health is not getting any worse than it is already?

When I moved to my new house, there was a cat that always sat bang in the middle to the entrance of the cul-de-sac. I asked the owner if he was nervous about that. He said the cat was hit once and, after recovering, went right back to sitting in the same spot.

Cats are stubborn - the "nine lives" thing has some truth to it. All the best for a speedy recovery!

^I was adopted by Mojo after his owner died, he's been on the streets for a few weeks at least by that point, so he's used to being outside whenever he wants. He goes totally mental if you try to keep him in, and if you won't let him out he eventually starts hiding, and rushing out when you open the door. So no possibility of keeping him as a house cat, he wouldn't have it.
He also seems to be a fighter, had to take him to vets a couple of months ago, because he was fighting with another cat, and it left part of a claw in his leg.

But hopefully this will teach him to be more careful all round.

Sorry to hear it man. Hopefully he'll be alright.

I would be a nervous wreck if I had an animal that left the house whenever it wanted and I had no idea where it was. I have never had a cat.

The only time I start getting worried is when it's getting late and he's not back. A few times he's not come back while late, only once has he not come back all night though. Once or twice it's been after midnight before he's shown up though.

That is why all of my pets are INDOOR pets. In our neighborhood, pets wonder freely and go underneath drain pipes all the time to sniff around and be curious. And they always let their dogs run loose as well..one almost bit one of our neighbors one time and got into her house. So, she moved away from the ruckus. It's hard though having a pet that is used to being outdoors and you can't let them stay in once they've been outside. The best of luck to you and hope your cat is ok. :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed that his injuries are not too severe.

That's how I always feel about my Pets, too; but you have to remember that they have lives and instincts of their own. You do the best you can, but sometimes things happen that are beyond your control.

That's horrible. I hope the guy hits a tree.

You definitely want to take him to the Vet whenever he is hurt or sick; you're right about that. Just do what you think is right, but remember that things will happen that are beyond your control.

Just called the vets and they said Mojo is doing really well, so I'm just going to pick him up.
Thanks to everyone for their concern.

Got him home, he's currently eating his meat like he's starving.
The vet said it didn't look like anything was broken, and he seems brighter in himself this morning, but to keep him in and keep an eye on him for the next 48 hours, otherwise he thinks it was mostly shock.

That's great to hear that your cat feels better, Bob. :) It's never good to have somethng like that happen to their pet. Hope your cat gets well soon.

Kill the cunt who drives the red car.

Other than that, vary its diet - give it dry food as well as wet, and make sure it gets regular check-ups at the vet. And talk to it, pay it attention.

Glad to hear Bob's mog is OK - we lost our oldest cat (16) in April. He wasn't eating, I took him in to the vets, turned out he had stomach and throat cancer and wouldn't have made out the week. None of us had any idea - he'd never shown any sign of discomfort until he started grinding his teeth because of a plaque buildup - so we'd thought that's why he was off his food (he'd take bite, then grind for a bit, then give up). We booked him in to get that seen to, and that's when the vet discovered the truth.

FWIW, here he is:

But we've now got Cleo, aged six months, so we've still got the four in total

^^ Sorry to hear about Mursya. :(

What a relief. Sounds like he'll be okay. :bolian:
