Pon Farr

If they do a love triangle, it might be interesting to have Spock's fiance turn out to be alive. It would play into the duality of the character. T'Pring (was that her name?) is the one appealing to his Vulcan side and Uhura is the one appealing to his human side. Torn between two worlds once again.

Of course, Old Man Spock might be doing his best to repopulate the Vulcan species. ;)

Or they were just referring to the survivors from the homeworld. 10000 evacuated out of 6 billion.

Except Spock goes on to describe that he's now a member of an endangered species. If there were millions of Vulcans on other colonies, I doubt he would have said that. I guess there's never been anything officially established in cannon how many Vulcans were living off world and in other colonies, and Vulcans have always been rather insular, so as I think about it, I suppose it is possible. I still find it a bit surprising, considering most of Vulcan was a desert world that there wouldn't have been some colonies established on more lush, resource rich worlds.

I hope Sybock died when Vulcan imploded.

Amen!

One hell of a silver lining in that space lighting cloud.

Vulcans are now an endangered species. They're going to need to mate more than once every seven years if they want to propagate.

My question is: Do Vulcans NEED to return to Vulcan in order to mate? If so... :vulcan:

I can see the travel agent, "Come to orbiting platform of where vulcan used to be and see the Black hole and debris cloud while you mate, it is most logical!"

I did wonder about Sybok. I seriously doubt the movies will ever mention him, but there are bound to be novels someday that will have the time to explore things like that.
I'm positve that on Voyager they said there were no Vulcan women aboard during Vorik's pon farr, despite a previous episode showing a Vulcan looking woman among the Marquis. I guess she died at some point? Voyager did lose a lot of crew members.
The novels do show Vulcan women in pon farr, most memorably Selar in the earliest New Frontier novels. Interestingly, Selar's homosexual brother is said not to go thru pon farr.
I hope a future movie (13 maybe?) deals with Spock's pon farr. Maybe Chapel can get casted by then and get in on some of that hot Spock action lol.
