It's been done to death, I'm sure, but I'd like to see statistics for which Doctor the Trek BBS crowd gravitates towards. I did a search using the board's search features and only found one thread since '07 about Favorite Doctors and it didn't contain an easy click poll. I figured then, that regardless of the last time it's been done, now is a good time to ask again.

Now this is a tough question. A very personal one. So take all the time in the world you need to figure it out before voting.

Things I'm curious to see:

*How many people favor the black and white-era Doctors
*How many people favor a Nu-age Doctor
*How #6 and #8 fare

NOTE: Doctors are listed in numerical order. : P

Jon Pertwee.

Davison, Troughton and Hartnell are next. Then Eccleston. The others aren't in the race.

Colin Baker.
I loved the idea behind his Doctor...sadly, the scripts were lacking for his era.
And, I also love the underdog.

It's like asking to pick your favorite child. I like all the actors who have played the role, each brought wonderful performances and a unique viewpoint. But, if push comes to shove...

Tom Baker
David Tennant
Patrick Troughton
Christopher Eccleston
Jon Pertwee
Peter Davison
William Hartnell
Colin Baker
Sylvester McCoy
Paul McGann

The number and quality of their stories I think also plays an inseparable role in the choice. I though McGann was good, but with just one appearance in an uneven story, it's hard to rank him higher.

That being said, I love all of them.

1. Tom Baker
2. Pertwee
3. Eccelson
4. Tennant

The rest I didn't see enough to judge on. Well I saw a bit of Davidson, but didn't really care for him.

Yes, it has been done to death and in every poll since Nu-Who began, the current doctor has won, followed by Tom Baker. It's pretty much inevitable.

I only need to take part in 3 more to Unlock the Infinite Poll Achievement.

I voted Tom this time.

If only we could have some kind of Hurt/Heal game to sort this out. :p

I came aboard with Tennant, so he's "my" doctor and my vote for favorite. I've still not seen a lot of the old show, but based on what I have seen:

Tennant
Hartnell
Pertwee
Davison
T. Baker
Troughton
McGann
Eccleston
C. Baker

NR: McCoy (I've only seen him in the TVM).

Patrick Troughton
Peter Davison
Paul McGann
Tom Baker
David Tennant
Colin Baker
Christopher Eccleston
Sylvester McCoy
Jon Pertwee
William Hartnell

But they're all fantastic.

You are absolutely right. There are so many different variables that go into determining who is your favorite doctor. My favorites (of those I have seen) are below:

Tom
David
Patrick
Jon
William
Peter
Paul

Davison. In truth though Troughton is really catching up fast, I think he was a great Doctor. I can find something in all of them to like though to be honest (even Colin!)

TOM BAKER

Best Doctor ever, period, end of story, Amen.

(How on God's green Earth is David Tennant leading this poll?)

In the past when thinking about my favorite Doctor I usually ended up with a three-way tie between Troughton (whose persona I enjoy most), McCoy (whose character I love despite the actor's shaky performances), and Eccleston (easily the best actor in the role).

So this time I broke the tie by voting for David Tennant.

Seriously, though, over the past few months I've come to respect Tennant's dramatic skills. I used to think he was a less accomplished actor than Eccleston, but now I feel that it's just a case of the ninth Doctor being a more interesting character than the tenth. Tennant has more range than I'd given him credit for, and the reason I didn't respect him enough was simple: he makes it look easy, where someone like Tom Baker was visibly straining his skills whenever he played a scene that didn't call for clowning.
