When you think of Zachary Quinto do you first think of him as Sylar or do you think of him a Spock? Which character do think he does a better job at?

I started watching Heroes when it first aired up so I always think of him as Sylar. I was worried I wouldn't be able see past that when it was announced that he would be playing Spock. However he did a good job playing the vulcan. I have a hard time thinking which character he plays is better but Sylar barely beats Spock for the insane effort he puts in the role. Maybe it's the fact that he makes the character watchable no matter how poor the writing has gotten lately on Heroes.

Sylar, definitely, when I think of him. I also think it's hard to say which is 'better', as they are different, but certainly the more accomplished role is Sylar. It's a lot harder to create a new character of that complexity than it is to emulate one.

I'll be nice and think of him as Spock, the far better written, far more iconic character. I clicked both of the last two options, because I don't know what's better for an actor, doing a heroic job to prop up a badly written character or kicking ass as a well written character.

So now we have a four-way tie. :rommie: Never seen that before in one of these thar polls...

I don't watch Heroes and don't know anything about the characters. I am not interested in watching it now that I sort of adore Zach. I'm all about Spock.

Right now since I'm watching the third season of 24, I think of him as Adam, the annoying CTU computer geek.

Hmmm? I just had a horrid thought... What if they get Nimoy to play "Old Sylar" for a Time Travel episode on Heroes?

Sylar is immortal because of Claire's rapid cellular regeneration (Adam Monroe having that same ability and being over 400 years old). Unless his powers get wiped out (IE. the Shanti virus or Arthur Petrelli), he's nearly unkillable and immortal.

Nimoy was actually approached about playing Sylar's father (there's an ongoing joke with old Star Trek cast members like George Takei and Nichelle Nichols--not to mention President Worf), but turned it down because he thought it was stunt casting. He took the Fringe role instead.

Overall, Sylar is the role that most belongs to him and he's certainly had the most to do acting-wise with it (which is always the case with television vs. film). Spock gave him a new opportunity to play a very different character, but Sylar, himself, has several very distinct characters-within-a-character and is continuously evolving.

Sylar would be his iconic role, with his performances being memorable as both Sylar and Spock. He does a great job at both.
