The majority of the prime time shows hubby and I watch are DVRed, as he refuses to watch live TV. Occasionally, we get legal downloads of programs we missed or can't get because we don't have the channel--like Dexter.

I watch practically everything on broadcast and basic cable via cheapskate TiVO (my trusty VCR, still kickin'). :bolian:

For premium cable, I wait a year for the DVD release. Even tho it's a long wait, it's also very fun to be able to watch a whole season over a week or two.

Generally, live broadcast. But if there is a conflict, the other show is DVR'd. This season, so far, the only conflicts so far are Thursday and Friday at ten. The jury's still out on Life on Mars, Eleventh Hour and Sanctuary. (It looks bad for LoM.)

Come to think of it, though, the only nonconflict times are for Brothers & Sisters, Big Bang Theory and CSI. So I suppose the DVR is essential for more than DVDs.
