Police Boxes in London?

I'm going to be in London in June and am trying to plan out my 7 days there. What Doctor Who related things can you guys recommend? And most importantly are there any old school police boxes around? I would love a photo in front of one. I remember reading somewhere that there was one in Earls Court. Is it still there?

While I'm an American and have never been to London, I can name a few things.

The London Eye - It's that giant ferris wheel you often see in the background in NuWho episodes that take place in modern London. It played an important role in the first NuWho episode, "Rose": it was what the Nestene Consciousness chose to use as a transmitter to activate the Autons.

The Tower of London - In NuWho, UNIT Headquarters is located beneath the Tower.

Big Ben - This clock tower is of of the most famous landmarks in London. It was destroyed by the spaceship the Slitheen sent crashing to earth in "Aliens of London".

Canary Wharf - This is where the Torchwood One tower was located, and where the big battle between the Daleks and the Cybermen took place. ("Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday")

10 Downing Street - This is where the Prime Minister lives and works. The Slitheen took it over in "Aliens of London"/"World War Three", and it was destroyed by a missile at the end of the second episode (though it was obviously rebuilt by the time "Harold Saxon" was elected). I don't know if they allow visitors in there, but even if not you can still look at it from the outside.

And of course, after typing all of that I stumble upon a great site, The Doctor Who Locations Guide. This site covers Doctor Who filming locations in depth, you should definitely check it out.

Some police boxes, like the surviving ones in Glasgow and Edinburgh, are now listed buildings. I don't know what London's policy is though.

It was there when I visited a few years ago. I stayed near there (for other reasons) and was happily surprised to see it!

Mr Awe

Though strictly speaking the one at Earl's Court isn't an 'old school' box - it's a slightly different design (different size, mainly) that has only been there or about 20 years. Still pretty close though.

If you're going far enough north on the Northern Line, there's a geuine vintage box outside the Hendon police college which is visible from the trains as you gopast. It's pretty dilapidated though.

It's a pity that MOMI is now closed. It had a permanent Dr Who exhibition and I was able to see bits of it when I went there in 1994. Typically it was closed for renovations when I went, and had flown all the way from New Zealand to see it. Well, that and see family, etc.

Other places:

Trafalgar Square: Used in The Dalek Invasion of Earth.

Post Office Tower: Used in The War Machines.

The Eye's in front of Big Ben so find one you can't really miss the other. Right alongside the Eye there's a permanent exhibition called the Movieum. For what it costs to get in they don't have much (but there's usually offers on) but I think the do have a Dalek and Police Box, possibly from the movies) I think there's some Star Wars bits'n'bobs too.

The Earl's Court Police Box is funny, I always seem to miss it! I usually come out the other side of the station.
