On a related note, Sony Pictures managed to take down an INDEPENDENT production by claiming coypright infringement.

You can take that to court, but that process is extremely annoying.
That film is available on Vimeo. YouTube are gradually making themselves obsolete. Other video channels will take a little bit of the market every time Google makes a stupid decision.
The next step in the chain will be Google 'filtering' returns which fly in the face of their edicts, like this Vimeo result. If it doesn't happen then I'm wrong but watch this space.
