I'm not usually the one to recommend running to the chemist, but from reading the symptoms on wiki I wonder if a mild anti-depressant might alleviate some of the psychological effects and maybe a few of the physical ones as well.
A few years back I was taking low dose sertraline (hydrochloride), 20mg, and it alleviated many of the same mental symptoms mentioned in the wiki article, as well as headaches and muscle cramping. I didn't have general flu like problems, so don't know if it would help with that.
