Plotholes that could be fixed in a Director's Cut?

I don't like the idea of Kirk making Captain so damn quick. Make it a longer space of time - ideally, several years - before this happens. Let Kirk rise through the ranks like everyone else.
It would have been so easy NOT to make him Captain, and then do it at the very beginning of the next sequel.
Or at least put up a chiron that says "Two years later" or something before the promotion scene happens.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the film, but my sense of Abrams, Kurtzman, and Orci is that extra scenes will create new plot holes, not close the existing ones. These guys are lucky most of this stuff can be explained away or simply isn't that important (the other Delta Vega, for instance), but I think they would consider this sort of stuff minutia, and wouldn't devote screen time to it. Abrams reminds me of RDM - he's interested in emotional truth over factual accuracy.
Three Things Off The Top Of My Head...
1) Give US a bit of explanation within the movie, as to how the Narada became so powerful.
2) Give US a clue as to why Nero did nothing for 25 years.
3) Change the name of Delta Vega and explain better that Spock-Prime did not actually SEE the Planet Vulcan Implode.

This (I've noted it as my biggest "nitpick" in some other threads). It would have required a slight re-jigging of the elder/younger Spock encounter (either have it take place earlier in the film, just prior to the promotion, or something--I'm sure they could have worked it out).
As for "seeing Vulcan explode", I took that image as partly symbolic (mind-melds must be a bit confusing to the inexperienced receiver). I assumed some sort of telescope was used by Spock off-camera and it was not necessary to show that (I know, just my own rationalization--but one has had to do that with every Trek movie and the vast majority of episodes to some degree or other. Why stop now?

Explain why all the otehr ships were in the Luarentian system- other than the need to have the Enterprise be the only ship in the sector/quadrant etd.

Ok. This one I know I got. We don't even need to have him on a near by planet at all! You can just have him react.
Remember the episode "The Immunity Syndrome"? Spock was able to feel the deaths of 300 Vulcans when their ship was destroyed. Imagine if this element was in the movie and Spock had to endure six billion lives ending all at once. With that many deaths literally on one man's conscience, logic goes right out the window (Thank you Eric Bana!).
And if the Romulans have the same type of telepathic connection as the Vulcan's do, it would be nice element to explain why Nero and his crew went totally insane.
Nero: Where I come from, this used to be a simple mining ship. But after everything that was dear to us was gone, those of us who remained were no longer afraid to use technology that even our brightest minds of Romulas deemed too dangerous to use. Technology from forces that can freeze and consume your very soul.
