They built the Enterprise on the ground, and then later in the movie it was in space. WTF? I mean, plot hole right there! How'd it get up there? Kirk took a shuttle, but they never showed us a shuttle big enough to fly the Enterprise into orbit.

Abrams just didn't care.

Notice that Abrams wanted to turn Trek, not into Star Wars, but into Monty Python. He had a shuttle named Gilliam and Moore (for Dennis Moore) and all that slapstick was so Pythonesque.

I just find it really problematic that Kirk didn't do everything himself:

1. He should have translated the Klingon
2. He should have injected himself with the alien germ to smuggle himself on board
3. He should have been driving the Enterprise (after all, what's the point of showing him driving the corvette?)
4. He should have beamed himself up when he saved Sulu
5. For that matter, he should have saved Olsen and fought the Romulans all by himself
6. He should have beat himself up to convince himself that he was compromised and should be leading the ship himself after his own mother's death
7. He should have discovered transwarp beaming
