Please Help! I want to Fax from my computer

Ok. Ten years ago I had a WIN 95 computer, and primitive as it was, it came with something called Microsoft Fax that allowed me to fax Word documents to anywhere using my Internet connection and it was simple. Now, I have Windows XP with a cable modem and can't even find that program. I just downloaded a trial of FaxWizard, but I can't even be sure I'm using it correctly. Can someone help or recommend a better program? All I want to do is be able to fax Word documents (resume, cover letters). Thanks

FWIW, I have this exact same problem.

Hell, I had this fax ability on Win3.1 !!
Since I got onto Win98 years ago, I've never been able to do it.
It was great too, just like you described. Just as easy as clicking the print icon, only it would go to fax. Great stuff.

Anyways, huh...sorry I don't have an answer :(

well I don't feel so alone. This FaxWizard thing only uses text files. errg

I'm logged on to Vista right now, I'll be able to check XP a bit later, meanwhile...

Try going to "Printers" in the start menu or control panel. It should show your printer, the MS XPS document writer (a cheesy copy of .pdf) and "fax". Click "fax" and if you have a modem, you should be good to go.

Like I say, this is Vista, I vaguely remember this in XP but I won't swear to it, I'll check again when I can log off...

Well, it's worth a try! Do I still need that stupid FaxWizard program ?

Thx

Start - Control panel - Printers and Faxes - Set Up Faxing should get you pointed in the right direction. A fax printer driver should have come with your dialup modem though. If you don't have one of those... I'm not sure how the fax is supposed to escape your computer. Try an online fax service, I guess.

Microsoft Fax is in XP, but it is hidden and you need to set it up. Click on "Help and Support" in the Start menu and do a search on "Fax" and it will tell you how to set it up.
