Playmates Toys

Am I correct that Prodigy hasn't yet aired on Nickelodeon except for the pilot sometime last year?

I feel like they need to establish a fanbase first outside of Paramount+ subscribers. My fear is that these won't sell and it'll kill future releases.

They have only aired S01E03 Starstruck on Nickelodeon so far, they replaced the first two-parter with it for the television premiere, though the two parter was free to stream online on YT for several weeks as well.

With the fall release of the toys ‪‪I think there’s a good chance the 10 episodes we’ve gotten so far will air on Nickelodeon before the fall.

Definitely picking those up. I expect Holo Janeway will be popular!

Love the line in the press release about wanting kids to take them out of the packaging and play with them. That's MOC collectors told!
I appreciate that. That is very much in line with my attitude as well with the MOC bit. It's a trifle bit ridiculous by my estimation.

It is supposed to air on Nickelodeon sometime this year once the initial run completes on Paramount+ if (emphasis on if) I recall correctly. So, they might be trying to time these releases with the broadcast or shortly thereafter.

Wow, these look great.

Anyone have any insight on why Rok-Tahk is held back? I thought it must have something to do with how much larger & rounder she is than most of the other characters, but she's about equivalent to Jankom Pog, who is in the first round.

I’m guessing it’s just the overall size. Could also be something to do with the sculpting. Maybe the early prototypes just don’t look right.

Yeah Bev was in Wave 2 and I think Deanna was initially short-packed because they didn't think boys would want girl figures. Hopefully times have changed.

I’ve always wondered why she of all characters was left off that first series. I’ve always figured it was a sculpting thing since they put her in the lab coat or the “nobody wants to buy the girl” thing.

and I can vouch for Troi being short packed. It was tough as hell to find her.

My mom, my brother and I used to call stores to ask if they had the figures and if they did we’d rush out to get them.

I remember Troi was tough to find in series 1 and the season 1 Worf was the tough one to find in series 2.

So when will we be getting a USS Prodigy toy?

I want it in Die-Cast Metal and have it be able to Transform =D

die-cast metal won’t happen, but I do expect it will be able to transform. In fact, getting that right maybe why it won’t be coming out until next year.

I remember when I got Troi, one of the workers at the Toys 'R' Us mentioned to my Dad that that figure was rare, so we got a second one to keep in the box as a collectable, which is... somewhere.

Likely working legal things out with Eaglemoss.
Interesting that they could proceed forward with the Enterprise model but not the Protostar. Such contracts would normally specify the type of product being able to be made, and not restrict the license holder in creating other such models, i.e. the RPG games that Star Trek has had in the past, various Enterprise replica ornaments, etc. No Eaglemoss has an exclusive contract.

Yes exactly, Eaglemoss don't have a licence to make toy ships, they make ornaments.

DST was producing electronic ships at the same time as Eaglemoss, so there won't be any overlap.

Any wait is likely just that it takes a lot longer to develop something like an electronic ship model or roleplay toy than simple action figures.
