Hey, can I ask you all for some advice on my custom Miles O’Brien figure?
In the early seasons of DS9 O’Brien always had his sleeves rolled up, probably to remind us that he liked to get his hands dirty. The Playmates figure followed suit.
I can’t seem to recall when the uniforms changed in season 5, O’Brien continuing to roll up his sleeves, but I may be wrong.
The question is, should my custom figure of him have his sleeves rolled up or not? Any thoughts gratefully received!
Also I seem unable to upload pictures to the forum from my iPhone. Any ideas on how to do it? I’ve uploaded them to a public site and embedded the link but it just comes up with a square with IMG written in it

Hey, this is great! I've literally done exactly the same custom and went for the rolled up sleeves. It just seems like the classic look for O'Brien! I've got all the season 5-7 DS9 guys in various states of completion, plus a movie Geordi to go along with the rest of the TNG crew.
Out of interest, what paints did you use? I never got around to painting so am curious about how you went about colour matching.
UPDATE: I have to make room for another Enterprise on the shelf!
Due to the fact that the DST Enteprise C (to say nothing of the Reliant unfortunately) are trapped in development hell/perpetual limbo, I have managed to fill this void with a recently obtained Kelvinprise from the 09 movie. My family gifted me one they snagged off ebay for my bday last week.
I didn't pick this ship up when the movie came out, and it was a regret. A lot of fans have positive things to say about the model (granted, it does still have it's shortcomings, but I can overlook them. I owned an INS Ent E from playmates when I was younger for crying out loud LOL)
I think it's a shame we never got the USS Kelvin, Jellyfish, or Narada that were planned. From what I understand, poor sales led to the cancellation of the Kelvin/Jellyfish (but a hot wheels die cast ship was released of the former) and the Narada was also cancelled (I believe it was considered a safety hazard for children as well with all the sharp points on the ship, but I may be embellishing this point.)

Janeway has arrived. I cut off the orange beam from the phaser,it looked ridiculous. I've also painted it since taking these pictures, to make it more screen accurate. Poor Tuvok is holding it upside down as I couldn't tell which buttons belong on top. If its handle had been more curved it would be clearer but it is quite flat.
I got myself a Playmates Romulan Warbird, Starfleet Runabout Orinoco, and Klingon Attack Cruiser for my birthday (which was today). The warbird and runabout arrived this morning!

Sorry for the late reply, here are the pics as requested of my Romulan Warbird. Note that the lights do not stay lit up like the Diamond Select ships, but only light up for the duration of the sound effect which is played. I got mine used, so I don't know what the sound effects are. But heres's the pics as promised!
I think you're right, because there is a droning engine noise that lasts a few seconds (that's the sound effect I used to take the pictures, because it lasts long enough for a picture to be taken).
I must admit, I never noticed. Then again, I haven't had any Romulan warbird models other than this one. It certainly looks accurate to TNG, maybe later models built with different neck lengths indicate they were based on later CGI models or something?
I can confirm the sfx. Can't remember if the engined light up, but I think they did. The TNH romulan warbird was the third trek ship I ever owned (after the shuttlecraft Goddard and INS ent E that is)

We sent out messages on the old Playtrek listserv, which is rarely used these days, and the Facebook page, which is more active. We had about 16 members chatting at the last Zoom.

Rick ran a very helpful physical and online comic book store, recently interrupted by a hurricane. Lots of Playtrekkers availed ourselves of his mail order services, especially when waves or single figures became hard to find at decent prices.

This was the advertising banner for an exclusive Playmates action figure, the result of an online competition, held by Rick of NewForce Comics. In 2000, members of the Playtrek listserv were asked to suggest a popular character that could be easily assembled/customised from existing Playmates' sculpts, and would be interesting enough to sell well. I suggested the winning figure: "Captain Kathryn Janeway as seen in the 'Star Trek: Voyager' episode, 'Flashback'." My reasoning was that Janeway was quite tricky to find, and the only captain figure at the time that had only one costuming iteration. The Saavik torso was popular with customisers, and the episode "Flashback" would broaden the appeal of a VGR figure to TOS collectors as well.
