Playing cards

Is playing cards gaming?
Does anyone still do that?
I do occasionally.
I mean actual cards, not virtual ones on the internet.

Gaming is playing a game, right? So yes.

I remember one beautiful game of Canasta when I racked up something in the neighborhood of 3000+ points because I managed several natural canastas, plus more mixed canastas. The deck was frozen, and my opponent ran out of wild cards and black threes. By that time I had a pair of everything, so it didn't matter what he played - I took the entire discard pile and managed to go out with more canastas than I ever managed before or since.

And how to play Milles Bornes with 6 people? Play it as a 3-handed game but everyone plays with a partner and we could see each other's hands and decide together what each person should play.

I play Kalooki and poker tournaments with the folks usually over Christmas. Some pubs host poker nights which are usually about £5 to enter so it’s more social than serious.

I love card games, especially one called Garbage (other terms no doubt apply). Poker is a lot of fun too.

I have an app on my phone called Solitaire Megapack (the pre-ad bloated version). There's around a hundred different games on it. My favorite is Klondike.

I occasionally play with the old folks at the nursing home I work at.

In my private live usually cards are only for drinking games at parties (I play with fruit juice or soda, since I'm a teetotaller)

Some of my friends play poker but I'm not interested in that game.

And yeah i have a solitaire app on my phone too which I sometimes use when commuting or things like that.

I tend to play card games when I meet friends for a games night. We play sh*t head (with regular cards) or Monopoly deal. Both are good fun and don't take too long to play a round.

It's gaming in the literal sense, but might not meet the common intent of the term's usage.
Yes, "gaming" has a more, for lack of a better term, "geeky" connotation. So stuff like deck building/collectible card games would be considered part of that world, as would tabletop wargaming and some of the more innovative or complex board games that have come out in recent years.
