Did I never mention I'm a billionaire? And yes I HAVE been planning this for a looooong time.

Its fucking extortionate here in the UK - around £3 for a coke(bout $6).

You can usually get a deal of a coke & hot dog for around £6($12) if you are lucky.

What are your ticket prices over there? Costs around £6 to see a movie over here.

Now we get close if you get a large Coke and a hot dog. That's $10. But still,

Our ticket prices range from about $7 to $12 (~£3.5 to ~£6). My theater I'm pretty lucky. $7.50 per ticket, although that's expected to go up to $8.50 this summer. :/

Ideally, I'll be seeing it at a midnight show on christmas eve at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood with reserved seats I bought several weeks in advance.

Cuz knowing my dumb luck, I'll be stuck working christmas day like I always do (f***ing Lakers!!) and it will probably end up playing at the Grauman's Chinese instead (which isn't so bad, but I'll have to convince a buddy of mine to show up 2 hours in advance and freeze his ass off in line will he waits for me to get off work.)

Drinks are fine... Popcorn is alright if you must, but only for giving yourself that special "At the movies" feeling...

I am planning on buying Paramount Studios outright and then handling the distribution of the movie personally. I'm thinking of showing the movie exclusively to starving children in third world countries, since Star Trek is what they need the most. I'll even knock 5% off the price of popcorn.

Exactly what I was just going to say. Even on the opening day of an extremely large movie, you don't need to be there two hours early.

I saw The Return of the King at its midnight premiere, and showed up three hours early for that -- to an empty movie theatre, with a line that didn't really materialize until about three quarters of an hour before midnight. I went to see it again the next day, and I only had to show up forty-five minutes early for that. My seats were fine and I had more than enough time to get food and waste some time and money on the arcade games.

The likes of movie line-ups that look like they came from an episode of Seinfeld probably won't be an issue for the next Star Trek movie, unless you're going to see the premiere at a very special location.

Sadly No!! They got bought out by AMC and stopped carrying them. In fact the whole place has gone downhill. I used to go across the way and get my Sno-Caps fix at Suncoast, but they went out of business.

I may just go to Showcase in Revere.

I'm planning on killing everyone who attends the Star Trek movie on the same night as me. The night will be remembered as the 'Star Trek Killings'. The result will be an unprecedented interest in Trek XI, as people try to figure out what is it about that movie that triggered this violent tragedy. Trek XI will make more profit than all of the previous Trek films combined and we will be guaranteed a couple of more films and a new series starting somewhere in 2009, featuring Philip Seymour Hoffman as a serial-killing Starfleet Captain.

Nothing is worse than having to sit in the first row and look straight up for two hours.

Also, never go to AMC theaters. They use inferior projectors and screens. Harkins seems decent.

Humm, must be more Trek lovers in your area Matt. I showed up about an hour early for "The Menagerie" and there were 2 people there.

The last movie I queued for was Ghostbusters 2.

I aint kidding.

Started about three hours late. The movie was so late they didnt even run trailers. There was a near riot outside it ran so late. There used to be an old, old cinema where I used to live that sat 2,000 people. Seriously. I shit you not.

They don't make em' like that any more *sigh* . As others have remarked, we have multiplexes now. Movies, especially big movies are played on several screens throughout the day.

I'll catch it on the day of release, which I would imagine will be boxing day in the UK (day after Christmas day). Earliest showing. 12.00pm I hope.

@VulcanSnowman: The Menagerie showing was packed here. It was a mixture of many age groups, and even had, gasp, women... Dressed in Starfleet attire.

I checked them for acne and fat rolls. No initial signs.
