For a premiere night movie, you'll want to pre-order your tickets and show up two hours (or more) in advance.
I live two blocks from a new multiplex with arena seating and twenty screens, most all of them quite big. All modern equipment.
If the movie is big, it'll show on at least three screens there.
I buy my tickets online and show up about half an hour to forty minutes before show time, which gives me time to buy my fatty treats and find a perfectly good seat. Doesn't matter how "big" the premiere is; seating is never a problem.
Can't remember the last time I attended a big premiere where people stood in a snaking line outside the theater for hours...probably not in this century.
