Planet of the Dead info

OMG IRIS WILDETHYME CONTINUITY Pr0nZ NOVELZ AR CANNON NOVELZ ARE CANOON

The sad thing is there will be people really thinking that!

The same people who are waiting for Rani in TSJA to slip into something with shoulderpads and are thinking that the character of Mr Frobisher in TW S3 will turn into a penguin at some point...

^ it would not be the first time a character has appeared in a "specail" and then returned to be a proper companion
The difference is that was under the same Producer. Moffat will want to create his own Companion not take one of RTD's sloppy seconds. :)
Let's suppose that Michelle Ryan is in "Planet of the Dead." That wouldn't preclude her from being cast by Moffat and Wenger as the companion in season 5. Nor would she have to play the same character as a companion that she would, hypothetically, be portraying in the special. Colin Baker's role as Maxil didn't keep him from being cast as the Doctor, nor did Freema Ageyman's role as Adeola keep her from being cast as Martha.

Realistically, though, if she plays a major role in "Planet of the Dead" she's not likely to be the series five companion, for much the same reasons David Morrissey was never likely to be the eleventh Doctor. Steven Moffat is not going to want his first companion to be a collaborative effort with the outgoing producers, nor is RTD likely to want to make that kind of effort, and I don't see that great of a chance of a same actor/different character with someone in a major role anymore. (Freema's bit part in "Army of Ghosts" isn't really comparable.)

so one quick question what does "IRIS WILDETHYME CONTINUITY Pr0nZ NOVELZ AR CANNON NOVELZ ARE CANOON" mean?

and I actually agree, casting Michelle Ryan does make it seem unlikely that she will be the next full series companion, but it just doesn't rule her out totally.

She was linked with Who when Billie Piper quit, so I'm not surprised. It's not impossible she could return, but I think it's probably more likely to be another one off, or perhaps recurring later down the line if they want. I think series 5 will be a semi-reboot, introducing the new companion in the first episode, so we get to know her and the new Doctor at the same time. Sort of like Eccleston and Rose.

a red London bus as a TARDIS, that it way cool, Iris herself sounds like a bit of a continunity nightmare

Surely the point of Iris is to be the example par excellence of Paul Magrs' "Look, I've created something mildly wacky. ISN'T THAT EVER SO FUNNY?" approach to humour?

The fact that Iris Wildethyme means anything to any of us means we're a bunch of saddos. But it's good company.

I love you all! Except Skutter. :shifty:

Sam, your avatar is really freaky. What's Allison Mack doing in that shot? (Besides "smiling", wamdue... ;) )

to be honest it gives me the impression that im waking up and she is next to me in bed in the morning, but that is just me
