Planet Hulk

There was only a vague holographic rendering of a few of them. No one was ever mentioned by name if I recall, though Tony was doing all the speaking. It really was just glossed over. All they basically said is that the Hulk was banished because he was too destructive and that they were all really sorry to have to do it.

Only Iron Man spoke to Bruce while the others were shown in silhouette and you can make out Dr. Strange's cloak on Tony's left.

Oh, I thought when I looked at the trailer for the movie I saw Reed Richards in it, but I just now rewatched the trailer and if that's all you see of them then it does make sense from the franchise rights issue.

Iron Man is the one speaking and in the forefront, you can clearly see Doctor Strange (which Marvel retains the rights to), but then Reed Richards is just a general outline of him in the back and then Black Bolt is just a blob (if that's supposed to be him even further in the back)

In regards to the Hulk now accepting Bruce has anyone else read the what-if contained in the back of one of the tpbs which shows what would have happened if they had landed on the uninhabited planet like the illuminate had intended where the two start fighting a personal war whenever one regains conciousness.

It does appear to be Black Bolt...I don't see Charles anywhere. X-Men is a fox property as well.

That's actually correct - Xavier wasn't around, he was believed to be dead when the Illuminati pulled their little trick.

This is covered in World War Hulk: X-Men when Hulk thrashes the X-Men (as in all of them, on his own) and then demands to know how Xavier would have voted. Xavier says he would have agreed with the rest and Hulk only leaves him alone when he sees the row upon row of graves in the mansion's gardens.

Yes...I completely forgot about Charles being dead at this point! Namor bailed on them over the issue of sending Hulk into space so it would have been only the four characters that we've discussed already.

His motivation for going after the X-Men was pretty thin but I have to say I enjoyed that little series a lot. Hulk vs the X-Men with a ton of brutality.

As for the Planet Hulk movie, it wasn't bad. Not as good as the book, needed to be longer (although some of the flashbacks take too long) but some pretty good action nonetheless. They HAVE to do World War Hulk.

It was an ok movie.
2 questions though, since I don't follow the comic books.

What gives with the intelligent Hulk ? When is he a dumb brute and when\how does he appear intelligent ?

And why didn't he revert to Bruce Banner when he wasn't angry or fighting ?

The Hulk has had various different personalities over the years; the one that appears in every other media adaptation is the "Savage" Hulk from the 1960s/early-1980s. Since then he's had a bunch of other personas whose existence is really complicated and mired in different creators' takes, etc. It's kind of crapshoot which version you get because of how roiled his psychology is.

Part of this is that he doesn't automatically become Banner when he's not pissed off. In the story version, the Hulk persona was initially determined not to let Banner out.

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it. More than I did the Hulk vs. cartoon. They did a good job of mixing elements of the comic book with the new plot line. I can understand why Beta Ray Bill was in there, but shoehorning him into the Thor Origin story seemed a little sudden.

I don't think they could make a WWH animation. Even if they show the spaceship exploding on Sakaar, the whole WWH storyline seems a little dark and downbeat for what they like to do in animation.

They've already said they're going to (Pak talked about the script at one of the panels for this movie).

I just watched the animated Planet Hulk flick. Hulk gets sent to another planet where he gets to put a beat down on some aliens-Gladiator style. I never read the comic so I was able to catch the story that leads up to World War Hulk. Hulk was intelligent and could speak. I like it better than big, dumb Hulk. Did anyone else here see it? What did you think of it?

I have a personal preference for a big dumb brute of a Hulk. If I wanted an intelligent hero there's Wayne, Parker, Stark and Richards. Sometimes dumb muscle is just plain fun.

That said Planet Hulk was great fun. Hulk may have been smart but muscle beat the shit out of intellect and that's just plain groovy.

It's a rare Hulk story where the Hulk is able to walk away from at the end a hero rather than a lonely outcast. It brought a tear to my eyes.

Tears of happiness!

I think Captain Canada is correct that there are future plans to make a WWH and that it was mentioned at Comic Con...I seem to remember reading about that. Maybe they can make it better than the comic was. I remember there was a great article in Wizard just before WWH came out where they speculated on what could happen if Marvel really wanted to mess their universe up and have the after effect be this new Hulk ruled World in the veign of the Maestro and one of their suggestions was that Peter Parker would become a Minister of Science in the new regime.

Name em...

^Otherwise known as five members of the Illuminati.

Nice that they were consistent with the comics - at the time, Xavier was believed to be dead and Namor disagreed with what they were going to do to the Hulk.

Hmmm, thats interesting. I'll definitely look forward to it, but I'd think it would be very different from the comic. I doubt they could have Miek be the one behind the bomb, he wasn't set up to be that kind of character in the cartoon. Plus a lot of what was in WWH was informed by the events of the Civil War, the public's dis-enchantment with superheroes and the importance of the Illuminati in the comics.

why does one of them (black bolt I believe from your post) have there back to the camera?
or look like they have their back to the camera.

^I don't think it's any coincidence that there have been Iron Man and Dr. Strange movies.

They might just be being careful about using Mr. Fantastic and Black Bolt so clearly.
