Plan-B to Outsource NASA to INDIA

In many ways, India looks (ironically) set to become the Britain of the 21st Century - the United States's close, powerful ally. As such, it's hard develop more than passing concern about establishments of this sort. If anything, NASA installation in India should be taken as an encouraging sign.

Houston this is Orion, we have a problem!

Thank you for calling the Mission Control help line. My name is Raj...er... Roger! Yes my name is Roger! How may I assist you today?

We heard a bang, and we're venting some kind of gas into space!

May I have your spacecraft serial number and date of purchase?

Cabin O2 pressure is droppping!

Sir, I must have your serial number to determine if you are eligble for free support.

Sir?

Sir?

Sir?

Please check your spacecraft settings, sir. If they are incorrect, you may be needing a reboot. Thank you for calling the Mission Control help line!

Could be a good thing, someone has to colonize space, i don't care who does it as long as it gets done.

Interesting choice, although it might go well with the discussion I read at cbc.ca/news a couple of years back re: setting up a spaceport on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia here in Canada. The attraction of that neighbourhood was, I understood, geographical; Cape Breton's at the same latitude(?) as Baikonur.

All of NASA goes to India?

Er, I think NASA should be based in the US... after all it stands for National (meaning of a nation, meaning US) Aeronautics and Space Administration...

I think they'll change their name to IASA eventually.

It would be nice if an organisation that develops so much potential military technology never gave any one nation an edge that could lead to conflict. Not to mention the benefits of international co-operation.

I think the writer of that article is a bit confused. The title says "R&D center" but the actual article says NASA's intentions are to build, of all things, a theme park. Christ, if theme parks are where we get most of our technical innovations these days, there's really no point in panicing about outsourcing. America is pretty much screwed anyhow.
