For those who saw Up!, what did you think of the animated short that came with it. How do you compare this one with the others. For me, it wasn't quite as good as Presto or the one that came with the Incredibles, but it was still sentimental and cute. The movies tend to be so good that the shorts often get overlooked, but it just amazes me how Pixar can turn a short simple story into a work of fine art.

I liked this one quite a bit... but I've always loved Pixar Shorts. If I was to put them in order of preference, this is how I would arrange them today...
  • Jack-Jack Attack
  • For The Birds
  • Geri's Game
  • Tin Toy
  • Presto
  • One Man Ban
  • Partly Cloudy
  • Red's Dream
  • Luxo Jr.
  • Boundin'
  • Lifted
  • Knick Knack
  • Mater And The Ghostlight
  • The Adventures Of Andre and Wally B.
  • Mike's New Car

B+ - I thought it was well-done, but wasn't as interesting a story as, say, Presto or One-Man Band, or Boundin'. It seemed too much like filler, rather than an attempt at a short film. Actually, it felt most like a 3D segment of Fantasia, and given the Pixar/Disney connection, it would be interesting to see them create an all-CGI Fantasia - as much as Walt Disney wanted to constantly push the medium and the technology, I think that's exactly what he would've wanted to do.

Partly Cloudy is a very sweet short film, but fairly simple in its plot. So, another B+ from me.

My all-time favorites are Lifted, Geri's Game, The Birds and Boundin'.

Their best short, for me, will always be Luxo, Jr.

Simply because of the marvelous CGI used in it was created in a time when such animationwas unthinkable. No it doesn't have any cute funny voices, or wacky score, or anything like that.

But it's just a really fun, cute scene involving lamps. It's such a great short Pixar uses it in their logo. So A-One for Luxo, Jr.

"Partly Cloudy" was fun, but "Presto" and "One-Man Band" remain my two favorites of the shorts before the films.

I loved it. It was a short simple story with humour and clear emotions. Just what Pixar do best!

I have the Pixar short films DVD and I love watching all of them. So do my kids. They knew all about Jack-Jack before ever watching the Incredibles! In fact young master trampledamage calls the characters in the Incredibles "Jack-Jack's family" :)
