Pine reveals small spoilers about Carol Marcus

Franklin

I don't think this has been posted here, yet. The link is to a story on trekmovie.com about what Pine says about Carol Marcus in the movie. It's not a huge reveal, but it's an interesting tidbit.

Pine says she has scientific knowledge that is a key to resolving the crisis started by Cumberbatch. Kirk also flirts with Marcus, but there's no romance between them.

With Spockhura going on, I'm glad they're not going to squish in another romance.

Although if they are laying the groundwork for Kirk/Carol in STXIII, it doesn't body well for S/U surviving this movie.

The Spock/Uhura thing is all wrong. They're better off developing the Marcus/Kirk relationship.

However, this will have to be done carefully. ST TOS relies heavily on the dynamics of the Big Three. I don't know how a fourth character would play into this.

Worked out okay in ST09 with Kirk/Spock/McCoy/Uhura.

McCoy really isn't the third most important character in this movie, any more than he was in ST 2009. Expect Uhura's part to be more substantial.

And yeah, the Spock/Uhura romance is working fine so far. Of course there's more drama in running it into trouble than having them moon over one another, so expect that too.

so a fourth main character is wrong, unless they're just a temporary fling? spock/uhura is cute

Go back and rewatch "The Man Trap" and "Charlie X." Uhura is flirting heavily with Spock, and he not only accepts it, in "Charlie X" he actually smiles at her in response.

I'm really tired of people saying that Spock/Uhura came out of left field, or doesn't make any sense. It was right there on the screen at the very beginning. The writers may not have followed up on it, deciding instead to make Nurse Chapel pine over Spock, but it was there.

Agreed. I don't know any of the history as to why there was no follow up, but I can assume that the studio saw the first couple of episodes and said "cut that out."

Since when? I think the movie showed it was quite probable that Spock Prime and Uhura Prime may have gone this way.

Uhura was very much promoted as "the fourth character" in the last film, even bumping McCoy from the teaser posters.

There's some info about Carol Marcus and her job in this video.
Apparently she's a
weapons expert

Interesting...

Sounds plausible to me. The Genesis Device (in the wrong hands) was the ultimate weapon, that was launched by a missile.

They called him "Cumberpatch" :ack:

John Harrison being a "home grown terrorist" is fascinating. There's also no talk of super powers, just imcredible skill. He may be "just" a rogue human Starfleet officer after all.

You think like a Klingon.

And you sound like an intellectual puppet of the Federation! :klingon:
