Pike Going *Back* to the Talosians

The one I've got is a monthly issue I believe, but it could have been reprinted in the annual perhaps? I can't tell you what the number was but I think it's either number 59 or somewhere in the 60s!
JB

No he didn't, because I think I might have that one! Especially if it has the Klingons in it!
JB

No. It was one of the DC Annuals.

It's the end of the first 5-year mission, as Will Decker comes aboard, the Klingons cause trouble and the Enterprise winds up at Talos IV in "The Final Voyage". Script by Mike W. Barr, pencils by Dan Jurgens, inks by Bob Smith. 39 pages of story. Denys Cowan/Ricardo Villagran cover. Cover price $1.25.

Gentlemen, I was having fun with Kor. I never thought he was mistaken. To underestimate Kor invites disaster.

I just saw "Menagerie Part 1" today (05-13-2018) and I wondered for the umpteenth time how Pike was removed from his room just when Miss Piper was watching away from the screen where she was observing Captain Pike's room, distracted by Kirk and Mendez talking about Talos IV. That always seemed like a big coincidence unless Spock knew when Piper was distracted.

Spock had Pike beamed aboard; and even if he had seen Pike 'sparkle' away; remember immediately after that Mendez is informed via intercom that the 1701 is warping out of orbit and refuses to acknowledge the Starbase's hails.

Piper had already said that Pike was under observation every hour of every day; I doubt that she was the only observer.
Spock had Pike beamed aboard
I like this idea. Manipulating the feed from Pike’s room should be no problem for someone holding an A-7 computer expert rating. ;)

But maybe once out of range of the Talos star system Pike's image may have disappeared? That or the Talosians have learned to increase the range of their illusions in the last two decades!
JB

Maybe they piggybacked off Spock's telepathy to get increased range! Spock could feel the "Intrepid" deaths, after all.

No reason we can't return to Talos IV at some point. Who says Pike and Vina weren't cured of their conditions somehow and left the planet? Plenty more adventures for Pike. No one has ever stated his storyline ends forever in The Menagerie. Give him the Zefram Cochrane treatment and send him back to Starfleet. I'm sure Anson Mount would be great leading his own Pike show set after TOS and Discovery.

Please, no. Pike did his bit for King and Country. Let him enjoy retirement and post-Starfleet life.
