When our old dog died back in May, I said "no more pets". My wife. otoh, wanted to get another spaniel. We argued, and eventually reached what I call the married man's compromise.

Her name's Bella. She's only young, but I think she's been mistreated in that she was mated and had pups very young (she's only 2), and she's a bit wary of me, epsecially when I wear a red jacket, which makes me think the breeder's son wasn't nice to her.

She's funny and full of energy, and when I take her photo, she runs around in circles. .

But I'm not letting her get close like our old dog. When they finally go, it hurts too much.

When I got back to my hotel room, I removed that tie, locked the door, plugged my cell phone into the charger, brushed my teeth, removed my contact lenses and went to sleep.
