Pics of completed ship on the ground in Riverside, Iowa

There's also an outside chance we might've gotten a slightly better script ("we can't present Sir Ben Kingsley with this piece of crap! REWRITE!"). Not a big chance, but a chance, nonetheless...

Many people, over many years, have indeed presented Sir Ben Kingsley with similar pieces of crap.
And he has gladly played them. NEM was doomed

That title and that Oscar can cover a multitude of sins and humble many a non-attentive writer and director. I doubt Stuart Baird had even heard of either "Thunderbirds" or "Bloodrayne".

And now I'm getting the vision of Kingsley and Stewart, both in a particularly goofy mood, going through their lines in full on Yorkshire brogues...

And most of the audience scratching their heads and thinking "What did he say?"

I wonder if anybody in Riverside even watches Star Trek?

Are you kidding? They have Trek Fest every summer. IIRC, they almost got Koenig to come to it once.

(And no....I've never been to it. But I have driven by the "ship" several times.)

I just assumed this was a cash grab by the local entrepreneurs. The regular ol locals probably just roll their eyes every summer as the event draws near, waiting for the nerds to come and go as quickly as possible. After depositing large amounts of cash in the local coffers of course.
