Picards' quarters painting

to mark the 4,000th pic on my Star Trek site, I decided to do a version of the pic seen in Picards quarters.

Those unfamiliar with the painting, it was by Rick Sternbach, and sadly its whereabouts unknown as I believe it went missing shortly after filming, the screen version is here

I always wonder though... if you've got space out of the window, why would you hang a painting of space on the wall?

^^orbits man.. stuff never stays at one place, one day you've got that nice spacestation outside your window and the next day some asshole parks his deuterium tanker in front of it.

Looking at how many space station hulls resemble primary hulls of starships makes me wonder if that's how they're built. "Just drive this out to orbit around thus-and-such planet and leave it there."
