[PICARD] Will Old Spock appear?

F. King Daniel

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Either via repurposed ST'09 footage (maybe impossible due to the CBS/Paramount split), or with an aged-up Ethan Peck? The series deals with the aftermath of Romulus being destroyed by the Hobus supernova, an event which "threatened the galaxy" and was stopped by Spock who fell into a black hole with Nero. We know Picard will be in uniform for flashback scenes. His historic rescue mission was presumably to Romulus and this show is in full-on kitchen sink mode when it comes to guest stars, sooooo....

As it seems that both Spock and Picard were part of the efforts to save the Romulan people, it's entirely possible that Picard might feel some lingering guilt over what he believed to be the death of Spock.

If so, I can see them using old footage of Nimoy to convey that in a flashback kind of way.

Or, they can just put Ethan Peck in old age makeup. ;)

I can't get behind Ethan Peck playing an Old Spock. At just a few years later, it feels to me like it would be in poor taste. I think it's too soon. It's not the same as Ethan Peck playing a Young Spock, where Spock would've had to have been recast even if Leonard Nimoy were still alive.

I'd like to see reused footage from the 2009 film, though. If they can do it.

Maybe if it's done in a vague, background way like the final shot of Philip Seymour Hoffman's character in the last Hunger Games movie.

Quinto in old age make up.

GIven the stature of Leonard Nimoy among Trek fans, I'd assume that the writers will let sleeping dogs lie and massively respect his memory

There is no need for TOS Spock to be in this series and it would only dishonor the memory of Leonard Nimoy to use old footage or CGI him in (a la Paul Walker)

Absolutely, I hope they won't use CGI.

Never underestimate the size of the kitchen sink in the writers room.

Until, as the phrase goes, too many chefs spoil the stew or lick the ice cream while it's still in the grocer's freezer or pee in the coffee pot... not sure what's worse anymore...
