Picard to drop in the MORNING of Jan 23rd

So it starts in the US (and Canada?), then people in NZ get it 4 h later, and then on and on going west...? Then Europe gets it 15 h after the US.

Well, either I’m gonna be late getting to work, or late getting back from lunch on Thursday. Ain’t no way I can wait until that night.

This seems like a defensible choice, although I will miss the "appointment viewing" feeling I felt with Discovery, knowing that friends and family were tuning in just as the show went live. Ah well. Not a big deal.

Canadians (on TV) will get it at 9pm. I imagine some sad/mad Canadians... Oh wait, I can't actually imagine it. They are all so nice and polite all the time :D

Like Discovery I’m afraid Picard isn’t a family show sadly.

Neither was TOS, which was sold as "adult sci-fi". Now considering TOS was exploring mature themes whereas DSC just has people using profanity, one could argue the definition of what's adult has definitely changed. TNG was the first to cater to younger audiences, which liked the pew pew stuff. And teenagers experiencing reactions to new hormones (and/or snow) who like the soap opera. And upcoming shows will cater to the 4 year olds. The only group left out are the adults who want something more in-depth for the times (our ADHDTV society). It's all good.

Just like words and their usage will shift with time. I also see why this colloquialism is gaining popularity. It's also unfortunately what birds make and do with it. What happened to "released" or "broadcast" Or even "aired"? That's not as fun as the changing nature and etymology of the word "snow", but still... :D

Three AM for me...
But that's no big deal, I'm a night-owl anyway.
:techman:

(was also the time the new "Mandalorian" episodes dropped here)

I'm mad that it's at 9 PM. Why not 8 PM like Discovery at least? I'm hoping they drop on Crave Thursday morning just like season 2 of Short Treks.

TOS gets oversold in that regard. In its first two seasons, it was running in the family-friendly 8:30 timeslot, following Daniel Boone and Tarzan, respectively.

There were plenty of adult themes hidden in that brightly colored "family friendly" hour. At least three episodes dealt indirectly with possible rape ("The Enemy Within", "The Return of the Archons", and "The Gamesters of Triskelion").
